As the Dota 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup heats up, the top 4 teams have now secured their spots in the semifinals.

Day 8 of the Dota 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2025 brought two more eliminations in the playoff stage, as the quarterfinals ended both teams' hopes of reaching the top 4 at Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025).

BetBoom Team and Team Liquid were on the back end of the defeats, with Team Falcons and Tundra Esports marching forward.

After we watched Aurora Gaming and Gaimin Gladiators have their keys crushed at the EWC 2025, two more teams met the same fate today. First to take to the playoff stage were BetBoom Team (BB) and Tundra Esports (Tundra). Having topped Group B, BB seemed destined to soar into the top 4 at the EWC. However, Tundra had other plans. After a fairly close first game went Tundra’s way, BB were quick to answer with a blistering performance to tie things up.

However, having thrown away significant lead when it mattered most spelled disaster for BB in Game 3. Once on the back foot, they began to fall apart, and Tundra took complete advantage. As BB fell, Tundra marched onward, claiming their spot in the top 4 of the EWC Dota 2 event.

Team Liquid and Team Falcons were the last two teams left in the quarterfinals, but only one made it through to the semifinals. Unfortunately for Team Liquid, after their near-perfect Group Stage, it was not to be them. The International 2024 champions never managed to get any sort of foothold in the series, with Team Falcons constantly finding pick-offs. It wasn’t long before the series was over, with Team Falcons soaring to a 2-0 win.

With that, the quarterfinals come to an end. From July 18, the top 4 teams at the EWC enter the semifinals, before July 19 brings us the grand finals. With only two days now remaining, the tournament is about to reach its peak. The final teams will need to pull out all the stops as they look for glory at the EWC 2025 Dota 2 tournament.
