It’s not the last dance for the roster, as they will stay together, but it’s official: Beastcoast is now M80!
The South American Dota 2 scene is the complete opposite to the North American. While the second is struggling to catch the attention of stable organizations, SA welcomes more and more investment. This time, Beastcoast, a growing esports team from the United States, has been acquired by M80.
This organization shares country of origin with the Beast, but comes with a bigger number of sponsors and partnerships. According to their announcement, M80 is not only acquiring Beastcoast's Dota 2 team, but also their whole media team. This includes their Pokémon events and media businesses.
As part of the acquisition, M80 will absorb several of Beastcoast’s esports operations – including a top team in DOTA 2 – one of the largest Pokémon media businesses in gaming, and key staff, including CEO Grant Zinn.
In his new role at M80, Zinn will serve as Chief Business Development Officer, where he will support M80’s expansion and double-down on fandom in exciting, but underserved esports like Pokémon and fast-growing regions like South America.
What's different for Beastcoast after the tag change?
On their official announcement, M80 indicated that this acquisition doesn't mean they will make changes to the team. In fact, the organization will be keeping Beastcoast's rosters, founder team, and even the team managers.
This means that the roster will stay as follows:
Role Player Nationality | Hard Carry Yheremi Kerry "payk" Paucar Arroyo Peruvian | Midlaner Luis Angel "Lumpy" Vilarreal Yausin Peruvian | Offlaner Mario "ILICH-" Romero Valdivia Peruvian | Soft Support Yelsthin Brayan "Elmisho" Verde Hurtado Peruvian | Hard Support Joel Eduardo "MoOz" Mori Ozambela Peruvian | Coach Juan David "Vintage" Angulo Nicho Peruvian | Manager Marcela "kami" Furlan Brazilian |
As for the Pokémon media team, they will also keep the core members, including Wolfey Glick, the World Champion and content creator. However, the Rainbow Six Siege Beastcoast team will be released, as M80 already own a full roster of players.
