A grand final of epic proportions is set for Dota 2 at Esports World Cup 2025, with Team Spirit taking on Team Falcons.
It has been a long journey for Dota 2 at the Esports World Cup (EWC 2025), but today, the two teams heading into the grand finals were decided. On Day 9 of the event, we witnessed the two semifinals take place, as two more teams would lose their chance at glory. However, for the losing teams, a third-place playoff was set. This meant that even if a team had its key crushed today, they could still gain some vital points in the EWC club rankings.
An epic Esports World Cup Grand Final awaits
Two semifinals produced two grand finalists at the EWC Dota 2 tournament today. The first of these was a closely fought contest between Team Spirit and PARIVISION. While Team Spirit was far stronger in Game 1, Game 2 seemed to be where PARIVISION would make their stand. But, as always, when playing from behind, Team Spirit thrived. The comeback was perfect, as Team Spirit took one last intense team fight to secure a 2-0 victory.
With their victory, Team Spirit booked their spot as the first grand finalist for Dota 2 at the EWC. Unfortunately for PARIVISION, their fantastic tournament run came to an end, with the third/fourth place playoff awaiting them.
The second semifinal saw an intense series between Tundra Esports and Team Falcons. While game one saw an interesting bug cause Remco “Crystallis” Arets’ Monkey King to get trapped on top of a Mars Arena, which led to their downfall. It was Game 2 that was an epic battle. Team Falcons, after turning around a huge deficit, began to make their comeback. But it took 80 minutes for them to close things out. Even though Tundra Esports seemed to throw away what was a prime winning opportunity, Team Falcons were just stronger at every turn.
