Chinese Dota 2 fans have a new team to cheer for, as Team Tidebound finally make their way into a Tier 1 tournament.
Once upon a time, in years long forgotten, Chinese Dota 2 was one of the most feared. Teams such as PSG.LGD, Wings Gaming, and Newbee dominated the professional scene. But, for quite some time now, CN has fallen off from its perch. More recently, we have seen a small resurgence with the likes of Azure Ray (AR) and Xtreme Gaming (XG), but nothing has stuck, and nobody has made the impact of before. However, a new team has appeared in 2025, looking to retake the throne of CN Dota 2 dominance: Team Tidebound.
Who is Team Tidebound?
With CN Dota 2 not being in a great spot, a new team was needed to rally the fans. In early 2025, after AR had already gone inactive, this squad came together. Team Tidebound, signing some huge names in the Dota 2 world, was seen. Featuring multiple well-known names from the famed winners of The International 2016, Wings Gaming, as well as even more from the 2023 LGD Gaming squad, Tidebound put together a fierce roster.
- Guo “shiro” Xuanang
- Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang
- Zhang “Bach” Ruida (formerly Faith_bian)
- Lin “planet” Hao
- Zhang “y`” Yiping
- Zhou “bLink” Yang (coach)

With a wealth of experience from every single member of the roster, as well as a brilliant coach, this team has the potential to excel. From one of the best mid-lane players the world has seen in NothingToSay, down to the insane support of y`, every single player on Tidebound is brilliant in their own right.

PGL Wallachia and beyond
While the team missed out on qualifying for DreamLeague Season 25 earlier in the year, Tidebound made its first showing at the currently ongoing PGL Wallachia Season 3. So far, this has been fairly positive. During the Group Stage, they managed convincing victories over opponents such as Team Falcons and HEROIC while also showing resilience against Tundra Esports. Unfortunately, their drafting was sub-par when going up against XG in the Playoffs, meaning they currently face a lower bracket run.
All that said, Tidebound has already secured themselves a spot at PGL Wallachia Season 4, coming in April. There is also FISSURE Universe Episode 4 later this month. Oddly, while Tidebound failed to qualify for ESL One Raleigh 2025, they were subsequently given the spot due to XG forfeiting their place after their recent roster change.

For a roster of such talent, Tidebound has an exciting year ahead. However, putting CN back on the map for Dota 2 is a tough task. Couple this with the dominance of Team Spirit recently and an already-flawed PGL Wallachia Season 3, and they could quickly become just another team to fall apart. But, if they can make it through to the podium at some of the upcoming events, maybe there is hope for Team Tidebound.
