It would be a tough time on Day 2 of The International 2025 as either BOOM Esports or Team Nemesis would be eliminated.

For Team Nemesis and BOOM Esports, The International 2025 (TI 2025) has been nothing short of a nightmare start. As the lone Southeast Asian (SEA) representatives, the two squads carried the dreams of an entire region on their shoulders. With Wilson "poloson" Koh and Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon were already forced to miss the event, and the pressure on Nemesis and BOOM was immense. And they were SEA’s hope on the world stage of Dota 2.

An unfortunate end: BOOM Esports eliminate Team Nemesis from TI 2025

Unfortunately, hopes and dreams cannot win Dota 2 games, especially at TI, as the two teams quickly saw their chances slip away. Even with magnificent performances in some regards, Team Nemesis and BOOM Esports would need to fight for survival. Inevitably, one of the SEA teams would see their TI 2025 dreams smashed on Day 2, while the other would stay alive – if only for a day.

During the first series, Nemesis seemed unable to get a foothold in the game. Eljohn “Akashi” Canonigo Andales’ Ursa pick was targeted constantly. With his farm dwindling in the early game, it was the Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong Axe from BOOM that dominated. In only 30 minutes, the GG call came out, with Nemesis now needing to change up their strategy.

Things did not get any better for Nemesis in Game 2. Although drafting a lineup with four heroes that could initiate, they continued to struggle. At every turn, BOOM was ahead and able to secure the early game with ease. It was, much like the previous game, over in half an hour, with Nemesis throwing in the towel and succumbing to defeat.

While Nemesis became the first team to exit TI 2025, they showed some resilience along the way. Although it was not enough to see them through to the main stage, the team was brilliant against Team Falcon in Round 1. For BOOM, they are not in clear waters just yet, with Round 5 now awaiting them. They will need to try their best if they want to have a chance at making it to the Playoffs.

While we have seen an elimination, on the other side of the standings, Chinese Dota 2 is blasting off. Xtreme Gaming and Team Tidebound have both overcome some huge challenges, as they both sit at 3-0. With the final day of the Group Stage approaching, the two will have to face off against one another.
