With a fantastic start to their Dota 2 season, Team Falcons claimed victory at their first event since TI 2025, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2.
FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 has wrapped up, with Team Falcons managing to make the ultimate lower bracket run. Having started with 16 teams, we saw an amazing tournament. With the likes of MOUZ and Team Yandex giving the bigger teams some issues, it was not a completely one-sided tournament. However, when it came down to it, the winners of The International 2025 showed exactly why they are one of the most fearsome teams in Dota 2.
Team Falcons: FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 champions
A little under two weeks ago, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 kicked off, as 16 teams began a gruelling Group Stage. Fighting in a slew of best-of-three series, the teams needed to keep themselves above the halfway point to make it through to the playoffs. For Falcons, this was no issue at all, taking 3 series wins to top the round-robin group. On their path, they beat Team Liquid, BetBoom Team, and MOUZ. However, they would face all three opponents in the playoff stage once more.
Once in the playoffs, it was a disastrous start for the reigning TI champions. Surprisingly, they would end up instantly dropping into the lower bracket after MOUZ put on a stunning show to take them down. However, this is where Team Falcons began to shine at FISSUE PLAYGROUND 2. Along their path through the lower bracket, they encountered Tundra Esports, Team Spirit, Liquid, and Team Yandex. Although a few series were close, they managed to constantly stay alive, pushing through to the grand finals.
On the other side, BB Team was making waves in the upper bracket. After beating Liquid, Spirit, and Yandex, they awaited Falcons in the grand finals. It was a magnificent first game of the best-of-five from BB Team, who turned things around to get ahead. Unfortunately, this would be their only chance to take down their opponents. In the next games, Falcons found their footing early and punished BB Team at every turn.
With a commanding 3-1 win, Team Falcons took down BB Team to become the champions of FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2. While the win is huge on the team’s first stop since becoming champions at TI 2025, there is still a lot left for the year. In a few days, Falcons head to BLAST Slam IV, where they are one of six remaining teams fighting in the playoffs.
From what we have seen, Falcons look as though they are refreshed and ready for a spectacular Dota 2 season. However, time will tell if teams can figure out their strategies and find the right weaknesses to exploit.
