After nearly three years in the scene, Shopify Rebellion has made the decision to step away from Dota 2 for the time being.

Shopify Rebellion has been a part of the Dota 2 scene for almost 3 years, but has now made the tough move of stepping away. While 2025 has definitely proven to be a tough time for many teams, Shopify is the first to make the move. As we enter the latter half of the season, Shopify Rebellions will be able to move on following The International 2025.

In December of 2022, Shopify Rebellion entered the Dota 2 world. The roster they signed was made up mainly of the ex-Evil Genius team. On paper, they were some of the strongest players in the scene. This included Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Abed “Abed” Yusop, Tal “Fly” Aizik, and Andreas “Cr1t-“ Nielsen. With a few promising results in 2023, including a fourth place at the Lima Major, they eventually parted ways.

The following year came with poor performances and roster changes. This led to 2025, when their latest roster took shape. Qualification for the Esports World Cup 2025 was a huge step in the right direction for the roster. Sadly, losing their qualifier to The International 2025 to Wildcard meant that Shopify lost a chance to reach the prestigious event for the second time.

Their poor performance at the EWC 2025 led to a post on X on July 30, in which the organization’s co-founder announced their decision to call it quits.

In the post, Dario "TLO" Wünsch confirmed that Shopify Rebellion would be parting ways with Dota 2 for the time being.

I am confident this is a “see you soon” rather than a goodbye. While we take our hiatus, I’ll always keep an eye on Dota. For now, you can bet I'll be right there with you, cheering on my favorite players as a fan during TI.

While the team may not be at TI 2025, it is highly likely that we could see Shopify Rebellion make a return to Dota 2 in the future.
