Shopify Rebellion are out of TI12 as TSM takes down their fellow NA squad with a 2-0 victory.
Team SoloMid have eliminated Shopify Rebellion from The International 2023. The Lower Bracket match-up between two North American powerhouses ended in disaster for the more storied roster as Shopify fell to TSM in a 2-0 set.
In game one, the words on everyone's lips, whispered in shock and disappointment, was “Willow Carry?!” as Shopify picked up the Dark Willow for Artour "天鸽” Babaev, Arteezy. With the teams carry on a hero that has a steep road to carrying a game, Shopify fell back on the Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek Bristleback to carry much of the early game. In theory, in late game, the Bristle would be invulnerable.
But the team didn’t reckon on Enzo "Timado" Gianoli’s incredible performance on Chaos Knight. Sitting on one of the strongest heroes of TI12 so far, Timado dominated Shopify and crushed their game one chances.
Game two was an opportunity for redemption for Shopify, and the team went back to more traditional carries, and strong meta picks. Arteezy picked up the Morphling, and Abed "Abed" Yusop the ever-strong Primal Beast. But TSM had their number. With Timado on a Luna pick, and Ilyas "kasane" Gainullin on Lycan, the team were able to out-scale their opponents.
But the real star of game two was TSM’s Jonathan "Bryle" Santos, whose Magnus was reminiscent of Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov’s legendary performance from TI10. With a finalscore of 3/0/11, he played a flawless game.

In a day where two of NA’s three teams at The International will be eliminated, it was somewhat surprising for Shopify Rebellion to the the first squad out at TI12. The team’s performances this year have been lackluster on the international stage, except for a lone second place at DreamLeague Season 21. This was believed to be the turning point for the NA squad, but things have sadly not materialized at TI12. They crash out in 13th-16th place, taking home approximately $46,000 (dependent on final prize pool amount).
TSM heads on to face Nouns Esports in another NA versus NA clash today (Oct. 21). When the dust settles, only one NA squad will remain. North America’s chances at The International hang by a thread.
