When is the Dota 2 roster lock deadline?

UPDATE: Roster registration is now locked as it has surpassed the deadline.

Roster changes happen before the roster lock deadline. If teams remove or register their players after the set deadline, their lineup will be incomplete and they won't be allowed to compete in the TI12 Qualifier. (Team SMG deja vu, anyone?)

There are two roster lock dates. One for removing players and one more for adding players. Teams can only remove players before August 3rd. Afterward, teams still can add new players until the "add lock" deadline on August 10th.

  • Roster drop lock date: August 3, 2023
  • Roster add lock date: August 10, 2023

Ceb officially re-joins OG after two years, Taiga departs

Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and his 'one last rides' are no surprise, but this time around, he'll be on the road to TI with OG once again. His former team, Old G, has seemingly disbanded as it currently holds no team members anymore. But Ceb's Dota 2 journey continues with OG ahead of the Regional Qualifier for TI12.

Now let's talk about OG's topsy-turvy situation over the past year. This team is known for fielding stand-ins in almost every tournament, mainly due to VISA issues. They have also been swapping their pos 5 and coach again and again, trying to find the right formula. But nothing seemed to have worked out.

And Ceb joining the crew, on top of Tommy "Taiga" Le's departure, seems to be their hail-mary solution. There is still another empty slot in OG and fans speculate that Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi will fill in the vacant role.

Invictus Gaming changes roster for TI12 qualifier

China is warming up for a heated battle in the TI12 Regional Qualifier. With only PSG.LGD securing a direct invite, the rest of China's top dogs will have to compete - and there's only one slot. IG hasn't been very convincing lately. Despite attending the Bali Major, IG performed poorly and finished at the bottom place.

With strong competition like Team Aster and Xtreme Gaming in the qualifier, IG decided to switch its offlaner. Li "项羽" Longwu (xiangyu) is transferred to iG.Vitality and Malaysian player, Nicholas "zeal" Lim, fills in his shoes. Zeal last played for PSG.LGD and Myth Avenue Gaming.

Team SMG removes carry player, CDR

Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng's team is one of the most notable stacks in Southeast Asia with a consistent Division I performance. However, the team didn't look stable in the past Tour. This likely leads to this roster change which removes carry player, Lee "CDR" Jia He, from the team. There is a possibility that MidOne will assume the carry position and Team SMG will welcome back Kam "Moon" Boon Seng as the midlaner.

Alliance replaces Ponlo with Pablo

A few days before roster lock, Alliance grabbed Swedish player, Pablo, who last played for Team Bald Reborn among streamers like Gorgc and Xcalibur. Interestingly, Pablo was a apart of the Team Bald lineup that stopped Alliance during their last-ditch TI11 run.

TI12 Regional Qualifiers begins soon, starting with the Chinese region on August 17, 2023. Stay tuned to Esports.gg for more Dota 2 news and updates.
