OG gets taken down by the recently-formed AVULUS stack. Find out why their captain is not playing, what’s next for them, and more details on their elimination!

Against all odds, OG faced an early elimination from the PGL Wallachia S2 WEU Closed Qualifier. The European organization fell short despite defeating MOUZ esports, which was expected to be their toughest opponent. However, it was AVULUS, a newly-formed stack, who took them down 2-0.

The team experienced a brief period of success after signing Enzo "Timado" Gianoli, but that now seems to be in the past. Back on July 19, the team had to start playing without their captain, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, who went on paternity leave. But even before that, OG players were already experiencing unfavorable outcomes, finishing 9th-12th at Riyadh Masters 2024.

Just like for Elite League S2, Oleh "kaori" Medvedok was Ceb's replacement for OG during the PGL Wallachia S2 Qualifiers. The 22-year-old player met the expectations of the team skill-wise. Plus, he packs a good amount of experience, after captaining PSG.Quest for a year and a half. Yet, as we have witnessed on multiple occasions, Ceb's leadership and speeches are unpaired.

AVULUS eliminated OG from the PGL Wallachia S2

The day started with a grim result for OG, as MOUZ, their first opponent, bet them in the first game. Immediately after this loss, their rivals became the instant favorites, with casters and the community expecting a 2-0 defeat. Instead, OG won the second game after a 50-minute encounter.

For the third game, OG tried an unexpected strategy. One that never works, but somehow did this time: The square Chronosphere on Timado's Faceless Void. And the memes were on their favor this time, advancing them to the next series.

The odds were then in favor for OG during their PGL Wallachia S2 Closed Qualifiers run. Their next rival, AVULUS, arrived after being defeated by Team Secret: a squad that recently formed with Tobi, who came from a four months hiatus, and Kyzko, a very skilled player with no Tier 1 experience yet.

AVULUS also featured strong names such as Daniel "Stormstormer" Schoetzau and Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev. However, this stack only played together once before: a Tier 3 tournament called CCT Series, where they finished third as Team Tea. Despite playing without a sponsor, and with so little experience, they managed to stomp OG by 2-0. Both games finishing just over 30 minutes.

After this defeat, OG will not be able to play anything until the start of DreamLeague's S24 qualifiers. That is, of course, if no one has Visa issues.

While we wait for Ceb's return, why don't you kill some time with us?
