In less than eight days, ESL Dota will return to Birmingham with another exhilarating tournament after five long years. The best teams congregate once again to fight for the esteemed ESL trophy and a chunk of the hefty $1 million prize pool. Here is everything you need to know about ESL One Birmingham 2024 from teams, talents, tickets, and schedules.

As usual, there are two parts to the tournament; group stage and playoffs. The group stage will commence on April 22 - 24 while playoffs will be between April 26 - 28. While the participating teams have been announced, ESL has not released a detailed schedule for the group stage just yet. The following are the teams and their respective groups:

After the long group stage, the Elite League has narrowed down to eight teams for the playoffs after OG and Team Spirit were eliminated in the Round Robin stage. The playoffs will kick off on April 12, featuring four best-of-three (Bo3) matches in the first two days. Elite League playoffs: Schedule and results



The playoffs are scheduled from April 12 to April 14.  There will be four Bo3 matchups in the first two days, starting at 11 a.m. CEST, with a fixed schedule. The final day will begin with the Lower Bracket Finals at 3 p.m. CEST.

Two-time The International winner and the co-founder of OG, Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, has just announced the release of his biography. The book titled "Character Beats Talent" entails N0tail's journey in life from his childhood to his unprecedented success in esports.

Waterbending has been in Fortnite since April 2, meaning the three other elemental abilities were held aside for the Fortnite Avatar: The Last Airbender event. He went up against the current leader of the standings, Ian Nepomniachtchi, - putting up a great performance met with Nepomniachtchi's brilliant defense. But Alireza would express dissatisfaction afterwards because of a much different reason.

After the Candidates Tour Round 9 ended, Alireza Firouzja took to Twitter/X to publicly call out chief arbiter, Marghetis, for interrupting him mid-match. The reason was that Alireza's shoes were making noises on the wooden floor thus the arbiter told the GM to stop walking around. He also asked Alireza to wear a different pair of shoes for the next days.

Candidates Tour: Alireza calls out arbiter for interrupting him mid-match due to noise complaints

MoistCr1TiKaL, owner of Moist Esports, has taken to YouTube to complain about his Apex roster struggling to acquire a visa for the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs. Two members of the team are from Australia, and do not have legal status in the United States. 



This roster, which is one of the favourites to win the competition, still does not have permission to enter the United States to compete. According to MoistCr1TiKaL, the team will only be able to compete if they are released from the organisation.



According to his YouTube video, the team has been released as a result of this struggle. Supposedly, this was the only way the team would be able to compete at the event. 









MoistCr1TiKaL takes to YouTube to vent about Moist Esports Apex Visa struggles



MoistCr1TiKaL vented passionately for over ten minutes on YouTube about his experiences trying to get the Most Esports Apex Legends team permission to enter the United States for the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs.



In an impassioned rant, MoistCr1TiKaL revealed that even with EA executives and the best immigration lawyers working alongside the organisation, they simply cannot get the visas sorted before the event.







"We have been working with the best lawyers in the industry. The best lawyers on the f***king planet that specialise in this field. None of them can believe that we have been declined, again. They've never had these issues before. They are as stunned as we are. 



"We even have one of the highest level executives at EA going to bat for us with US immigration and lobbying for us...even with the goddam Avengers on our side US immigration slams the door and turns us away like it is a lacrosse house party in college."



He goes on to add that he believes "I'm convinced that if Jesus Christ resurrected right now, US immigration would turn him away."

Since Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Set 11 Inkborn Fables' release, there has been a dominance in reroll compositions, both 2 and 3-cost. In the latest B-patch, 3-cost reroll compositions such as Yone reroll and Duelist reroll that benefit from level 7 odds and Titan's Resolve are very prevalent.



Additionally, 4-cost carry compositions are less prominent than what is considered healthy for the game. While Kai'sa carry functions at level 8 and caps well at level 9, it is harder to compete with the reroll meta with any other level 8 and 9 standard composition. 



Many of the changes in the large upcoming patch remedies the state of the meta to expand the diversity of playstyles and meta compositions.

Return of the Tactical AR in Fortnite update



The Tactical AR is officially making its return to the Fortnite island. While this gun's bloom may be a bit heavier than other ARs, it has a fire rate that makes other guns look weak. Not only that, but its scope abilities will give players a chance to really hone in on their sights. 







The gun was first released back in Chapter 1, and since that has been seen on the island multiple times. This, however, will be the first time the gun has been available with interchangeable scopes. 



LEGO Fortnite Edit Styles



Edit Styles are officially coming to LEGO Fortnite. This means your favorite skins that have multiple options in the Battle Royale, will now also include multiple options in LEGO Fortnite.







Details on the new Edit Styles in LEGO Fortnite have not yet been released, so whether or not every skin will have them is unknown.

In a couple of days, it unveiled the same lineup up until the <a href="https://esports.gg/news/dota-2/nisha-departs-team-secret-dpc-2023/">departure of Nisha</a> - which shook the Dota 2 community. To fill in the massive void left by Nisha, Team Secret picked up young Czech player, BOOM.


Team Secret has been teasing the community with a slow roster reveal. In a couple of days, it unveiled the same lineup up until the departure of Nisha - which shook the Dota 2 community. To fill in the massive void left by Nisha, Team Secret picked up young Czech player, BOOM.

He exploded in the Dota 2 sphere after securing a first-place finish at WEU Tour 1 DPC Regional Finals with GG. After securing sufficient DPC points, GG earned a direct invite to Dota 2's grandest tournament and BOOM made his debut on the stage of TI.

A new era begins. Western European powerhouse, Team Secret finalizes its Dota 2 roster for the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season with the addition of Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan. The former Gaimin Gladiators' midlaner will fill in the shoes of Secret's former midlaner, Michał "Nisha" Jankowski.

Gaimin Gladiators has been a brute force in Division I of the Western European (WEU) DPC 2021/2022. They placed second in two of three tours of the WEU DPC. The Gladiators proved themselves worthy champions when they placed first in the DPC WEU Tour 1 Regional Final. They ended the 2021/2022 DPC season with a 9th-12th placement in The International 11. You can see the team play in Division I of WEU in the upcoming DPC season.

European Dota 2 team Gaimin Gladiators has finally revealed the last ingredient to their salad bowl: the North American mid-star Quinn "Quinn" Callahan. The cool, calm and collected Dota 2 player will be taking the role of midlaner for Gaimin Gladiators.

Quinn has been a respected talent in the North America Dota 2 scene and has been in notable teams such as Newbee, Chaos Esports Club, Soniqs, and Quincy Crew. He has always managed to be in the top rankings of the North America Dota 2 Leaderboard. However, this will be his first time experiencing the Western European Dota 2 DPC scene. 



He last played with Soniqs during the 2021/2022 DPC season which ended with them placing a disappointing 17th-18th placement in The International 11. With this change of scenery, he will be saying goodbye to his well-known crew, Yawar "'YawaR" Hassan and Arif "MSS" Anwar who he has been playing with him together since 2019.
