Due to continuing Visa issues, EEU team, Mind Games is the first team to exit the Stockholm Major.

On the 2nd day of Stockholm Major, ESL revealed that Eastern European (EEU) team, Mind Games is officially removed from the tournament due top “continuing Visa issues”.

Yesterday, Mind Games was supposed to play a series against Thunder Awaken but wasn’t able to assemble their players. This was because three of Mind Games’ players were not able to get their Visas in time. As a result, the team receives a series forfeit. On the 2nd day, ESL officially revealed that Mind Games is disqualified from the Stockholm Major.

Mind Games came to Stockholm Major after qualifying through the EEU Playoffs, in which they secured 3rd place. The team seemed really promising having beaten the popular CIS Rejects to secure the final slot. However, their appearance at the Major lasted a flash. Following the team’s removal from the Stockholm Major, Mind Games earn default losses and take the elimination slot in Group B.

Mind Games is the first team that is officially out of the Stockholm Major, taking the 13th-14th place. They also won’t bring home any prize money or DPC points. The players of Mind Games are:

  • Timur “Dinozavrik” Mavrin
  • Aleksey “Ainkrad” Diveevskiy
  • Uladzislau “Petushara” Kazlouski
  • Danil “Bignum” Shekhovtsov
  • Semion “CemaTheSlayer” Krivulya

Visa issues are not only striking the squad of Mind Games. Western European champions, OG also suffered a similar fate after their team captain, Mikhail “Misha” Agatov, was unable to get his Visa approved. However, they’re able to quickly replace misha with former OG player, Ceb who is now filling in the position 5 role.

Stockholm Major proceeds with 13 teams

The Stockholm Major 2022 is still ongoing and so far, it has had a rocky start. From the absence of Chinese teams to now Visa issues, this Major sees some unfortunate circumstances. The teams of Eastern European region also had to go through a last-minute Playoffs to qualify for the Stockholm Major which wasn’t an ideal situation. Nevertheless, the Major is still running smoothly as we approach the end of Day 2 of Stockholm Major. Group A has the last elimination slot and the 2nd team that’ll exit the Major will be finalized very soon.
