Patch 7.32e dropped today and alongside the hero changes we also welcome the new Dota 2 hero, Muerta. One of the biggest updates is The Dead Reckoning mini-game which allows players to enjoy some side quests in their pubs. By playing this mini-game, you can earn some exclusive items from the Dead Reckoning Chests. Here is everything we know about the mini-game and how you can earn the most out of it!

How The Dead Reckoning mini-game works

As if we need any more reason for Dota 2 players to try hard in pubs, we are blessed with the Dead Reckoning mini-game. This game encourages you to hunt for blood and it makes your Dota 2 pubs all the more intense. And the best part is, you can get exclusive event chests that have unique cosmetics! They include an exciting Pudge set and a rare IO set.

Here's how it works:

Every player that queues in a Dota 2 game will be assigned a target. It'll be one of the players in your opponent's lineup. You need to score points by getting Kills and Assists on your specific target. But that's only half the fun. Your opponent also has a target on your back, and whoever gets a higher score will earn twice the reward.

A notice on the left of the screen will notify you your target in that game.

Step 1: Collect Muerta Flowers

Muerta Flowers is the currency in this Dead Reckoning mini-game. You collect Muerta Flowers with every Kill and Assist that you score, but it must be from the enemy target that was allocated to you. If you outscore your opponent in a game, you'll get more Muerta Flowers.

  • 1 point = 2 Flowers
  • 1 Kill = 2 points = 4 Flowers
  • 1 Assist = 1 point = 2 Flowers
  • Turbo games deliver half the Flowers

Step 2: Trade Flowers for Chests

You can trade the Muerta Flowers that you have collected for Dead Reckoning Chests! These chests have new sets that follow the ghostly Muerta theme.

Step 3: Get Keys to unlock the Chests

To unlock the Chests, you must acquire a Key. You can either purchase the key for $2.49 USD or 20,000 shards in the Shard Shop. Every player gets five keys by default, so technically, you get five chests for free!

Players get Muerta Flowers by scoring Kills and assists on their enemy "target". This target is assigned to you randomly in a Dota 2 game.

To get the best out of every game, we recommend you play Turbo Mode, where the game develops fast and fights occur more often. Even though Turbo Modes give half the Flowers, you can focus on grabbing Kills and Assists rather than focusing on objectives.

All Pick games are completely fine but your hero pick is very important. To get the most out of fights, pick heroes that can be active throughout the game. This means heroes with AoE spells, low cooldown spells, and global spells. These criteria can help you have higher kill participation.

Heroes like Lina, Lich, and Sand King have a lot of AoE spells that can help you secure more Assists. Zeus and Spectre have global spells that allow you to participate in kills across the map. Avoid heroes like Anti-Mage or Troll Warlord that heavily focus on a single target and require a level of farm to be active.

When does the Dead Reckoning mini-game end?

This mini-game will last until April 4th, 2023. Dota 2 players will have a full month to enjoy this Muerta season and collect as many rewards as possible!
