The insanely hyped Crownfall patch is finally here! Valve releases the massive update today in mid-April  to bring an entire story event revolved around the Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit lore. Here is every new item you can purchase in the Dota 2 Crownfall event including Arcanas, treasures, and other rewards.






Skywrath Mage Arcana: The Devotions of Dragonus - Crownfall event



The Skywrath Mage Arcana in Crownfall comes in two styles. The first is called "Servants of Scree'Auk" which is the default version. The second style is called "Sovereigns of Skywrath" which you can unlock only after you complete the Main Quest in Act IV.

Vengeful Spirit arcana: The Resurrection of Shen - Crownfall event



The Arcanas for Vengeful Spirit on the other hand comes in three styles. The default style is called "Sovereigns of Skywrath". The second version which can only be obtained after completing the Main Quest in Act IV is called "Servants of Scree'Auk". The third style, "Queen Imperia" can only be unlocked after completing all Main Quests and Side Quests in all four of Crownfall Acts.

Valve released the highly anticipated Crownfall update today, rallying the Dota 2 community to celebrate a free-to-play game event. But the biggest highlights of Crownfall has to be the launch of Arcanas for Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit. The Arcanas are unique and mesmerizing as usual, but what makes it more exciting, is that it comes with bonus styles that you can unlock. How to unlock bonus Arcana style for Skywrath Mage



The Skywrath Mage Arcana has the dark default style that you can purchase for $34.99. But there is a bonus style that colors Skywrath Mage in his natural golden glow and you can unlock this style without no additional cost.







To unlock Skywrath Mage's bonus Arcana style, you must complete the Main Quest in Act IV. We are currently in the midst of Act I and as the event unfolds, we will get to the final phase of the event, Act IV. Complete the Main Quest from Start to Finish in Act IV and you will unlock the bonus Skywrath Mage Arcana style - "Sovereigns of Skywrath."






How to unlock bonus Arcana style for Vengeful Spirit



While Skywrath Mage has an additional Arcana style, Vengeful Spirit has two! The default Arcana style for Vengeful Spirit goes for $34.99 which sees the originally gloomy hero in a new, bright, golden glow. Its second style "Servants of Scree'Auk" portrays the hero in her more natural form with a purplish ambiance. To unlock the bonus Arcana style for Vengeful Spirit, you must complete the Main Quest in Act IV.

MMR Double Down is back in Dota 2, and the infamous mechanic is now available to every player for free. While it seems simple at first, the system can be incredibly rewarding or punishing. 



It’s also suspiciously easy to use them on accident, but depending on your strategy, that could be a good thing. Here’s everything you should know about MMR Double Downs, from how they work to the best strategies for using them.



MMR Double Down returns



MMR Double Down is a returning Dota 2 mechanic where players double the amount of MMR gained or lost from a ranked match. Players activate tokens by opening the menu at the start of the game and confirming their selection. There is no limit to how many players can double down their MMR change in a single game. There’s no cooldown or time limit for them either. The only limiting factor is the amount players own, and more can be unlocked or purchased as Crownfall goes on.



Valve appears to have played a little practical joke with the Double Down system this time. The developer replaced the Dota Plus prediction UI with the Double Down feature, so if you click the same buttons in the same order, you raise the stakes. Try to control your muscle memory at the start of every match, unless you opt for our second recommended strategy.

The best way to use your MMR Double Down tokens 



Considering the stats behind the system, there are two valid ways of using Double Down tokens to stack up your MMR.



The first and safer option is to use them strategically. Players submit their token at the start of the game after the draft, which can already give you a decent idea of how the game will go. You can also check your teammates to help decide. If you have a mid Undying and a pre-muted offlane, there’s no need to commit. The same is true if you're playing an off role for Role Queue tokens. Just be patient and cash them in when you’re confident of a

MMR Double Down is back in Dota 2, here’s how they work

Mid-April is finally here! It means Valve just released the Dota 2 Crownfall event, including two brand-new Arcanas. One for Vengeful Spirit, and the other for Skywrath Mage. The update features a new comic for the lore enthusiasts, explaining why these two heroes are the chosen ones.



There is also a new quest mode that you can play right now with the most recent update. In resume, you have to play the indicated heroes to earn tokens that will unlock pieces of the story. You will earn treasures, store coins, candies, and more. Keep reading to find out what you get and how to progress!






The Overworld Map for the Dota 2 Crownfall event



On the in-game main screen, you'll find a button leading to the first act of the story. Click it to enter the Overlord map, which should look like this:

The paths are randomized between players to prevent multiple accounts from queuing at the same time with similar token requirements. On this screen, you will find all the information you need to start progressing. To start playing, check what's the first token you will need. For this example, the "running" token will allow us to get our first rewards.



This first mission requires a "Running" token and will grant the first rewards.



How do I get the tokens?



As simple as it sounds: Play the hero required on each category to earn tokens. Even though every hero could grant multiple tokens for different categories, some of them will give twice the amount of the same category.

Every hero has a set of three tokens. (For example, in Act I, Axe has Running, Durable and Initiator tokens.)





If you win a match with that hero, you'll earn one of each token. If you lose, you'll get one of the three tokens randomly. Turbo matches grand two tokens for a win and none for a loss.

How to play the Dota 2 Crownfall event: Overworld Map explained

Crownfall has brought two new flashy Arcanas to Dota 2, but the first question on every player’s mind is if they can claim them for free. Valve has been generous in the past with free Arcanas in battle passes, or at least making them reasonably cheap. Now that the developer has returned to the standard $35 price tags, is there a chance it's willing to drop it even lower?



Eagle-eyed fans have noticed the coin discount in the shop, which can already knock a solid chunk off their prices. However, if you can get enough Crownfall coins, is it possible to claim the Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit Arcanas for free?

Crownfall coin discounts do not stack, which means you can’t get the Arcanas for Skywrath Mage or Vengeful Spirit for free. However, it's still possible to get them for a discount. 



Players can cash in Crownfall coins to get a $8 discount on anything in the store. This could be a free Crownfall Royal Bundle, which surreptitiously costs the exact amount as the discount. Players can also spend it on a few free Crownfall treasures if they purchase the $20 bundle of nine. This naturally leads to whether they can stack, and the answer appears to be no.

The discount appears to only apply once to any single item in the store. The coupon is consumed at the time of purchase, so there’s no way to stack up 100 Crownfall coins and discounts and use them to get some free Arcanas. The most you can do is bring both Arcanas down to $26, which is still a nice discount, but far from complimentary.



Crownfall will include 60 free coins, which, if all stacked onto one of the two Arcanas, would theoretically allow players to claim one for free. We’ll have to wait and see if Valve changes the rules to allow this miracle as the event unfolds.

How to get the Invoker set via the Crownfall event



Crownfall brings forth a ton of hero sets and cosmetics. But out of all the sets, this Invoker one is particularly special because it is a reward that you can only get if you play the Crownfall event until the very end.







To get the Invoker "Wyrdwing Exaltation" set, you must complete the Main Quest on the Overworld Map of Act I (The Markets of Midgate). Finish the quests from "Start" to "Finish" and by the end, you'll earn yourself a set of rewards. You'll obtain the Invoker set, a "Crownfall Act I Completionist" medal, and three sets of decoration that you can put on your player profile.



Note that you don't have to complete the Side Quests which are marked in a purple line. This makes obtaining the Invoker set alongside the other rewards completely free!

Dota 2 Crownfall: How to get the Mythical Invoker "Wyrdwing Exaltation" set

The Dota 2 lore-centric event, Crownfall, bombards the Dota 2 community with tons of cosmetics and rewards. The event is divided into four Acts in which each Act will bring a fresh set of quests and rewards on an entirely new map. We are currently in Act I as the event has just kickstarted. But when exactly is the Crownfall end date?






When does the Crownfall event end?



The Crownfall event end date is not yet announced. However, we have a rough timeframe of how long the event lasts. On the official Crownfall website, Valve states that the Crownfall event will go on over the next few months.

If a single Act takes place across a month, the entire event will likely finish after four months. We speculate that the Crownfall end date falls on late August. This duration also aligns with the calendar if Valve is to launch a new event or the Compendium right before The International 2024. The prestigious TI is scheduled to kickstart early September in Copenhagen, Denmark.

When is the Crownfall event end date?

The Crownfall Patch has finally arrived! As the Dota 2 community rejoices in the update, there's a ton of new content to unpack. There's of course the brand new treasures and the two new arcanas. But, also coming in the update is a brand new story, and a completely new adventure game for Dota 2 players to embark upon. So without further ado, let's dive into the Crownfall update. 



Reclaiming the Throne 



The first part of the Crownfall update is the story of the whole update. The Ascension Day comic was released early today, which introduces us to the Crownfall storyline. In short, Shendelzare (AKA Vengeful Spirit) had her throne usurped by her sister Imperia. But now with the help of the god Scree'Auk, Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit plan to take the throne back and get their revenge. You can read the full comic here.

Included in the Crownfall update is an adventure that continues the story of Ascension Day. Players will need to guide the newly empowered Vengeful Spirit and Skywrath Mage through the streets of Skywrath to take back the throne. Compared to previous Battle Passes with a branching path for one of three sets, this map has significantly more rewards, minigames and side quests! However, the best part is that players can earn shop coins, which if a player has enough can provide a discount on anything in the Crownfall Store.

Although it's not the long awaited patch, it's a comic detailing the story behind the two new Arcanas for Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit that are now confirmed to be released alongside the update. So without further ado, instead of reading the 120 page comic, here's a breakdown of the Ascension Day comic.

Scree'Auk shows up and gives Skywrath Mage his remaining power and he subsequently powers Vengeful Spirit up

Some Backstory



So before we get into what happens during the Ascension Day comic, let's learn a bit about the world and where this story takes place. In the land of Eyrie, ten years before the Ascension Day comic takes place, there was Shendelzare, who was the Queen of the Skywraths who was secretly in love with Skywrath Mage (AKA Dragonus). One day Shendelzare's sister Imperia overthrew her sister and usurped the throne. Everyone assumed that Shendelzare died in the coup. 







However, thanks to the god Scree'Auk she became their champion, becoming Vengeful Spirit. The day in which this coup took place was commemorated as Ascension day. Where Queen Imperia took her throne. On every Ascension day, Dragonous, the Captain of the Queensguard, is nowhere to be seen. And that's where the Ascension Day comic begins.

Our story begins with Skywrath Mage meeting with Queen Imperia on Ascension Day. The Queen tells the captain of the Queensguard that she senses a plot to dispose of

Dota 2 Crownfall Comic Ascension Day summarized

Straightfaced streaming sensation Hans "Forsen" Fors has finally earned his rank in Dota 2, but for his fans who don't play the game, it's tough to tell if he's any good or not. 



Dota 2 is infamously complex, and returning players often feel like they're playing a brand-new game. This was the case for Forsen, but the Swedish sensation still managed to pull off some wins during his calibration period.



Forsen's Dota 2 rank is Crusader 1, which is roughly 1,600 MMR. This is a relatively normal rank for players with some gaming experience, but are new to Dota 2. 



The streamer returned to Valve's MOBA on April 18 just before the release of Crownfall. He finished his calibration period in just a couple of days.    



Is Forsen actually good at Dota 2?



No, Forsen is not good at Dota 2. 



Crusader is the third-lowest rank in the game, roughly equivalent to silver in League of Legends and VALORANT. In terms of percentiles, According to Esports Tale's rank distribution, Forsen is better than approximately 26.22% of all Dota 2 players. 



Based purely on percentile, Forsen's rank is closer to Bronze 1 in Riot titles. Notably, Forsen calibrated in Western Europe, which is often considered the most difficult matchmaking environment at the competitive level.

However, this rank is pretty respectable for a player who rarely plays the game. Forsen took an extended break from Dota 2 after briefly playing it on stream in 2019. 



The game has changed quite a bit in five years, but he seems to have kept some of his skills. Unfortunately, Forsen's account is not registered on Dotabuff or OpenDota, so it's difficult to check his gameplay history.



While not particularly impressive to longtime Dota 2 fans, Forsen's relative success shows that anyone can still pick up and play the game in 2024 and find a reasonable amount of success.

Beastcoast says goodbye to Lima Major with loss to Evil Geniuses on home turf

<p>One of the two remaining Eastern European teams bows out of Lima Major after a disastrous series against Talon Esports. HellRaisers did not stand a chance after Talon overwhelmed them 2-0 at the lower bracket. In the first game, Talon outdone HellRaisers 56-19 with a net worth gap of 40,000. In the second game, they took the upper hand once again with a 44-16 score and a 32,000 gold advantage.</p>

<p>Despite taking an early exit from the playoffs, HellRaisers have achieved a respectable accomplishment. They have made it to the Lima Major playoffs and finished 9th-12th even though this is their first Major. Previously, the team has only made it as far as the qualifiers for <a href="https://liquipedia.net/dota2/HellRaisers/Results#Detailed_Results" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Shanghai Major in 2016 and Chengdu Major in 2019</a>. </p>



<p>HellRaisers performed formidably throughout the tournament <a href="https://esports.gg/news/dota-2/hellraisers-yuragi-stand-in-for-lima-major/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">even with a last minute standin</a>. In an exit interview, team captain Alexey "Solo" Berezin comments on the challenges he faced within the last year of his Dota 2 career, having jumped around from on team to another (Virtus Pro and Natus Vincere). He stated that he is "super happy" that he has met his fellow teammates at HellRaisers and is eager to play more with them. He added that he feels responsible in taking care of his teammates who are much younger than him and are likely more green in experience. It is only the beginning and Solo appears to have a positive outlook for HellRaisers' future.</p>

They will face yet another Eastern European team, Team Spirit on Friday, Mar. 3, 10:00 a.m. PST. This will be a crucial matchup as both teams are the final bastions representing their respective regions at Lima Major.</p>
