Geek Fam returns to Dota. Roster yet to be announced ahead of BTS game

After two years of hiatus, Geek Fam finally returns to Dota. Who will be playing for the newest ititeration? Find out soon on November 25th!

On November 4th, Malaysian-based esports team Geek Fam announced its return to Dota in a Twitter post. It has been two years since the team disbanded. Geek Fam has not confirmed whether it has acquired a Division 1 slot in the DPC. However, the team will participate in the ongoing BTS Pro Series Season 13.

Previous iterations of Geek Fam

Before its dissolvement, Geek Fam made a number of strides in the Dota scene since its entry in 2016. It was home to a number of reputable players including Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang, Rolen "skem" Ong and many more. The late and beloved Alaan "SexyBamboe" Faraj also had a stint with the team in 2017.

The latest version of Geek Fam's roster consisted of players who spearheaded the glory days of T1; Carlo "Kuku" Palad, Karl "Karl" Baldovino, Kenny "Xepher" Deo and Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon who later made it to TI10. Fnatic's Marc "Raven" Fausto was also a part of the final iteration before they disbanded in 2020. Suffice to say that many former Geek Fam players went on to achieve great things in their career.

Who will be joining the new roster?

The roster shuffle fiesta is pretty much still up in the air. T1 recently disbanded its Dota 2 roster which consisted of former Geek Fam players along with Anathan "ana" Pham and Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen. BOOM Esports also announced its release of Timothy "TIMS" Randrup and Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong. Then there are Brizio "Hyde" Budiana and Damien "kpii" Sau-jing from Talon Esports and Raven from Fnatic. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many potential candidates in South East Asia alone not to mention players from other regions who may have interest in SEA.
