Fbz and Matthew replace Ghost and rmN- as Nigma Galaxy prepares for the upcoming ESL One Birmingham qualifier on Jan. 22.

After two disappointing qualifier runs for BetBoom Dacha and DreamLeague Season 22, Nigma Galaxy makes a quick maneuver to readjust its roster. Just a couple days after the departure of Daniel "Ghost" Chan and Roman "rmN-" Paley on Jan. 20, Nigma Galaxy finds itself replacements in Farith "Matthew" Puente on support and Saieful "Fbz" Ilham on offlane.

Welcome Nigma Fbz and Matthew

South American and Indonesian Dota 2 players are currently in demand, with many making moves to other regions. Although Matthew has played with a number of notable teams such as Thunder Awaken, Evil Geniuses, and BOOM Esports (South America), this is his first time venturing out to a different region; and a new one no less.

Meanwhile, the long-time BOOM Esports (Southeast Asia) veteran has accumulated some experience playing outside of Indonesia. Fbz's biggest stint prior to joining Nigma Galaxy was playing with Team Secret. At the start of 2024, he briefly returned to Southeast Asia (SEA) and played under Among Us along with other seasoned SEA players. During this run, he attempted but failed to qualify for BetBoom Dacha 2024 and DreamLeague Season 22.

Both Matthew and Fbz have already made it to Nigma Galaxy's bootcamp in Dubai. At this time, there is only the upcoming ESL One Birmingham for Nigma Galaxy to participate in. The main tournament is still months away, but the qualifier begins today. Hopefully, Nigma Galaxy has enough time to prepare, and that the roster will be able to last longer this time.

Will things work out for captain KuroKy this time?

Things have been volatile for Nigma Galaxy. The team has seen numerous changes to its roster in the last two months alone. However, success is still beyond reach and Nigma Galaxy's captain, Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi, needs to put in a lot of work to prove his critics wrong in light of recent performances. The team has not been in a single LAN tournament since the end of 2022. After much struggle, surely things will work out for Nigma Galaxy this time, right?
