Dota 2 Turbo Mode is now faster and more furious

These changes bring the Fast and Furious Game mode up to speed with the 7.33 changes.

Valve has brought about significant updates to the Dota 2 Turbo mode. With references to Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious movie series, the latest patch will be a much-needed improvement to the Fast and sometimes furious Turbo Game mode in Dota 2. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest changes.

The Turbo mode is a faster and shorter version of a Dota 2 match. As such, players earn more gold, more experience, and can participate in teamfights faster. However, after the latest update, there were a few changes needed to ensure Turbo Mode remains a viable game mode despite significant changes to Dota.

Dota 2 Turbo Mode changes

  • Wisdom Rune experience amount increased by 100%
  • Lotus Pool lotus spawn interval decreased from 3 minutes to 90 seconds
  • Aghanim's Shard initial availability time reduced from 9:45 to 7:30
  • Infused Raindrop initial availability time reduced from 3:30 to 1:30
  • The hero selection interface has been updated to show how many players have selected a hero on each team
  • Random hero selection are no longer revealed to the enemy team
  • Players who select a random hero no longer receive a free Mango and Faerie Fire
  • There is no longer a restriction against selecting a random hero for the last 10 seconds of the picking phase
  • Phantom Assassin's Manifold Paradox Arcana will now count wins in Turbo for half credit.
  • Pudge's Feast of Abscession Arcana will now count wins against Rubick in Turbo for half credit.

Some of the biggest improvements include the timings for the availability of the Aghanim’s Shard and Infused Raindrop. These items are essential to the outcome of the match and as such, their early availability brings them in line with a player’s net worth and experience.

The Lotus Pools, introduced in 7.33 will also have much faster respawn times for the Lotus. This means players can potentially work towards Baking their block of cheese within a normal Turbo match.

Previous to this update, players would often struggle to gather enough lotuses to potentially bake a block of cheese in Turbo mode.

There are also a couple of changes to the hero selection screen. Random hero selections are no longer visible to the opponent, ensuring competitive integrity before the matches. Players who randomly select a hero will no longer receive a free Mango and Faerie Fire, which would often tilt the balance of power in the laning phase.

Wisdom Rune

And finally, the Wisdom Rune experience amount sees a 100% increase. The Wisdom Rune is a great way to level up in Dota 2. However, for Turbo mode, the Wisdom Rune’s impact was not as strong as in normal game mode, simply because most heroes were already very high level by the time the second Wisdom Rune spawns. WIth the increase in the Wisdom Rune experience, we can expect more sneaky plays to the enemies offlane Tier 2 towers to grab a hold of the Wisdom runes.

Other Bug fixes

There were also a few other bug fixes that will improve the quality of life for Dota 2 Turbo mode enjoyers. The Dueling Fates update introduced the Turbo mode and it has been a popular game mode for those unable to find the time to play a complete Dota 2 match.

  • Fixed various interactions with Phylactery when targeting low-health units.
  • Fixed Stormcrafter proccing immediately if dropped and picked up again.
  • Also Fixed a bug where issuing an attack order while using quick attack against an invulnerable target would cause the cursor to remain in attack mode after failing to issue the order.
  • Hero Relics are now purple for universal heroes.
  • Fixed Universal heroes having incorrect attack damage display during picking phase.
  • Fixed Dota Plus neutral item suggestions showing NaN
  • Message displayed when killing tormentor changed to be a combat event message that will display who received the shard or how much gold and experience is awarded to the team in the event all available shard upgrades have already been acquired.
  • You can now add and remove 'Pinned Items' when editing them rather than just replacing the existing ones.

The most significant change in these bug fixes are the Hero relics for universal heroes as well as the combat message for Tormentors. Tormentors give Aghanim's shard to a random teammate. After the latest update, the message will be displayed to show who received the Shard. If everyone on the team has an Aghanim's shard equipped, the message will display the gold and experience awarded.

The Turbo mode allows players to experience the joys of Dota 2 in (in most cases) half the time.
