The organization already has a Dota 2 roster in Division 2. What’s next for the CIS team?
AS Monaco Gambit has announced it is moving its Dota 2 lineup to the inactive roster. The decision comes after a poor performance in the Tour 1 Division 1 matches.
AS Monaco Gambit finished its Division 1 matches with a 1-6 score; its only win was its debut DPC match against Team Empire. After a strong performance last year, the organization has failed to replicate similar levels of success in 2022.

AS Monaco Gambit relegated to Div 2
The team finished 7th in the Division 1 DPC, Eastern Europe. Its performance (or lack of it) meant that AS Monaco Gambit is now relegated to Division 2.
The decision to move the roster to inactive is probably because the organization already has another team in Divison 2. The Division 2 team, which goes just by Gambit esports saw Afterlife’s addition from the main roster in November last year.
The team managed to lose most of its matches with a 0-2 score. Besides its 2-0 win over Team Empire, AS Monaco Gambit’s only victory was winning the first game against Virtus.Pro.
One of the strongest teams in the CIS region at the beginning of 2021, AS Monaco Gambit suffered a heavy setback in May last year. Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev and Vladimir "No[o]ne" Minenko left the team to join Natus Vincere ahead of the WePlay Animajor.
The sudden move hindered AS Monaco’s progress and the team crashed out in the wild card stage itself. Over the next few months, AS Monaco Gambit did have the same success as it did with its previous roster. A failure to qualify for TI10 was largely due to the lack of any DPC points from both the Dota 2 Majors last year.
The organization has still not announced its intentions with the AS Monaco roster. With a Division 2 roster already in place, it will not be possible for Gambit to field two Dota 2 rosters in teh same division.
