All Dota 2 pros who retired after The International 13

A few legendary players have taken a step back from the Dota 2 scene after the end of TI13.

Another year wraps up for the Dota 2 season and the community is now looking forward to what lies ahead in the 2025 season. But as the roster shuffle phase unfolds, it is clear that the next season will not be the same as many prominent faces opted to step back. Here are all the Dota 2 pros who have retired or gone inactive after TI13.

Topson

Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen is one of the greatest midlaners to grace the scene, bringing his eccentric hero pool and daring gameplay to life on the grand stage. He had cemented an unprecedented legacy with OG, winning a back-to-back TI without prior professional experience. And this year, despite a rocky roster situation with Tundra Esports, Topson managed to clinch a top 4 placement at TI13. Though hopes for a third Aegis were diminished, Topson still held an astonishing record. Tundra Esports announced that Topson's time is up as he chooses to retire.

The rest of the players on this list have gone inactive.

Yatoro

It's not usual that especially talented players move towards inactivity at such a young age. Team Spirit's Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk is one of the most decorated prodigies in Dota 2, having won The International twice in 2021 and 2023. Yatoro brings phenomenal skills and an incredible aura to the scene. At one point was the most-searched Dota 2 player of the year.

After the loss at TI13, Yatoro described the season as "too much workload and maximum dedication, which was not followed by receiving results throughout the year" on his personal Telegram. He revealed he has no motivation for the next season, but will undeniably return.

Mira

Another two-time TI winner has also decided to take a break from competitive Dota 2. Team Spirit's Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov may be one of the more low-key players of the legendary squad but his underdog story will remain forever iconic. He went from being a tier 2 position 4 to a TI winner in what seemed like an overnight twist. And now he's decided it's time for a break, going inactive at the age of 24.

TORONTOTOKYO

Here goes another two-timer. Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek had a unique pathway in the esports scene. He first won The International with Team Spirit as one of the most dominant midlaners at the tournament. He then parted ways with the roster and joined BetBoom Team, switching to the position 5 role AND assuming captaincy. This was a huge shift to TORONTOTOKYO's Dota 2 career, though it was quite a successful one as he managed to lead BetBoom to many consistent runs. Now at 27 years old, TORONTOTOKYO opts to take a break from the scene.

Nightfall

BetBoom Team is one of the teams that got the worst hit in the roster shuffle storm. The carry player, Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko, started as a popular pubstar, and got his huge breakthrough with Virtus.pro in 2021. He then delivered an impressive role swap to the offlane and played among veterans in Evil Geniuses. However, his best performance was in none other than BetBoom, as he played among CIS stars and was able to shine in his home region.

After a solid and consistent season with the team, BetBoom saw dampening results at the end of the season. The team bowed out of TI13 at a top 8 position. Nightfall has now turned inactive in competitive Dota 2 at 22 years old.

gpk

Danil "gpk" Skutin has always been a star individual with his name already a force to be reckoned with since his Gambit Esports days. He started in the scene at the young age of 16, and after seven years of highs and lows, gpk has also chosen the path of hiatus. He steps away with an incredible repute as one of the best CIS midlaners.
