FaZe Clan ignited the home crowd, while The MongolZ brought the underdog factor into the last quarterfinal series of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
So far, the quarterfinals for the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 has seen some amazing series. But none have been as hyped as the FaZe Clan versus The MongolZ. Before the series had even begun, the noise from the crowd was tearing the roof off the Moody Center. The cost of a loss today would spell disaster for both teams, with elimination awaiting. The winner, on the other hand, would book a spot in the top 4 of the Austin Major.
FaZe has not been in the best spot of late. With poor performances, the team needed something to change. That is why they brought in Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev to bolster their roster. With 900 days since his last Major Playoff appearance, s1mple needed to lock in to carry FaZe through. On the other side, MongolZ were the Mongolian underdogs challenging them. Having had a 2025 filled with top 4 finishes, the team would be looking to cause a massive upset by taking down the crowd favorites.
With the cheers of the crowd behind them, both teams went into what would be an epic series of Counter-Strike 2 action.

The first half of Anubis played out similarly to Mirage, with both teams showing off some amazing skills. However, this time, FaZe managed to scrape a small lead heading into the second half – a fantastic sign for their adoring fans. It continued to be an extremely close second half, with neither team backing down.
Unfortunately for FaZe, having been unable to make a definitive stand against MongolZ, they eventually were left out to dry. With a 13-11 scoreline, MongolZ secured Anubis and the series.
