Team Spirit’s withdrawal means a change to the IEM Melbourne line-up.
There has been a change to the IEM Melbourne line-up after Team Spirit withdrew from the competition and were replaced by Complexity. The team have a successful history in Australia, having made the Grand Finals in Sydney in 2023.
It's not clear exactly why Team Spirit have withdrawn from the event. There is a range of speculation circulating but the team themselves have not given an official reason.
Complexity heading to IEM Melbourne
Complexity were one of several teams considered as Team Spirit's replacement. Replacements are decided based on the teams VRS at the time of invitation. Several other teams were approached but were not able to attend the event for a range of reasons.
G2, FURIA and Astralis stated they did not want to play the event when initially invited. Wildcard, B8 and HEROIC were them offered the chance to replace Team Spirit, but either did not want to attend or could not obtain a visa in time. That left the path clear for Complexity to attend IEM Melbourne.

Initial responses to the announcement mostly focused on Vitality. They have a chance to secure the Grand Slam in Melbourne and Team Spirit were seen as one of the biggest obstacles standing in their way. With this withdrawal, CS2 fans feel that Vitality have a much easier path to completing this huge achievement.
Additionally there is a lot of speculation about Team Spirit's withdrawal with no official reasoning given. Some fans are suggesting Team Spirit could be saving strategies for the upcoming Major or perhaps even could be making a roster change.
Whatever the reason, it works perfectly for Complexity who will be getting ready to take full advantage of the chance to play IEM Melbourne. The event kicks off kicks off on April 21.
