Nearly two weeks of Counter-Strike 2 action culminated in the grand finals of IEM Cologne 2025, featuring Team Spirit and MOUZ.
MOUZ and Team Spirit were both ready to ascend to the throne of IEM Cologne 2025 champions after Team Vitality were unceremoniously knocked out. MOUZ’s journey to the grand finals was a difficult one, with the playoffs presenting them with some challenging opponents. However, it was not going to get easier in the grand finals. Team Spirit was their final hurdle, and neither team would back down from the battle.

MOUZ crumble as Team Spirit dominate at IEM Cologne 2025

Spirit came out swinging on Mirage at IEM Cologne 2025. With a nearly unstoppable Counter-Terrorist side, Spirit managed to put their opponents on the back foot. While MOUZ managed to fight back with 5 rounds in the second half, Spirit eventually closed out Mirage with a strong victory.

Heading into Ancient, it seemed to be primed for a MOUZ victory. At the swap, MOUZ was 8-4 up, before pushing their lead up to 11-5. However, disaster struck at this point. Spirit began to surmount their comeback, and MOUZ crumbled. Round after round, the expertise of Danil 'donk' Kryshkovets prevailed. With eight straight round victories, Spirit took the second map and put themselves on match point.
With their backs against the wall, MOUZ needed a miracle on Nuke to have any hope of taking down Team Spirit or winning IEM Cologne 2025. Unfortunately, it seemed as though the pressure had gotten to the team after the previous loss. Going down 4-8 in the first half, MOUZ struggled to find their footing against the superior Spirit squad. When it came down to it, Spirit was just the far better squad on the day.
