Zews, the two-time Major Champion, will no longer be in charge of Liquid.

Team Liquid's annual upheaval continues as Wilton "zews" Prado now finds himself on the outs. The legendary coach is the latest in a series of moves for Liquid, which previously saw Casper "cadiaN" Møller getting benched.

zews' return to Liquid

The player's returning to Liquid was, on paper, an attempt to return to their past glory days with a Brazilian anchor, an AWPing IGL, and zews at the helm of it all. That recipe was what made Liquid's 2018 roster so successful. But in 2024, that simply didn't pan out. zews felt a solid connection with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Keith "NAF" Markovic. But his collaboration with cadiaN never got off the ground.

The team never found the chemistry that Heroic used to enjoy. Compounded with their lack of LAN invitations in the early part of the season, that meant that Liquid and zews couldn't find the success they needed.

What's going on in Liquid?

Liquid's roster moves are perplexing at best. Officially, the team has benched cadiaN and zews, but strong reports are suggesting Felipe "skullz" Medeiros' move to Furia is all but confirmed. With half the roster gone, Liquid needs a thorough rebuild. Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella may still be out of Liquid, but the team needs at least one Americas representative if they want to compete in the RMR.

Twistzz believes he can take up the IGL mantle, but that leaves an AWPer and an anchor still on their list plus a strong coach to hone Twistzz's voice and lead the team. Who can they bring in? And can they prevent Twistzz from becoming yet another Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip or Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis?

There's a lot on Liquid's plate, and with roster locks fast approaching, it remains to be seen if they can make a competitive roster in time. Otherwise, they face yet another disastrous season without any sticker money influx.
