There’s plenty of CS2 action to follow in India this week.
CS2 esports are back after the player break and the next tournament underway is the Skyesports Championship 2024, a $300,000 LAN tournament in Mumbai, India.
Although the event won't feature tier-one teams such as G2, Natus Vincere, Vitality, and Team Spirit, some pretty decent squads like The MongolZ, Eternal Fire, and ENCE are among the organizations attending and will certainly put up a good show.
Here's our preview for Skyesports Championship 2024, which will run from July 23 to 28.
Skyesports Championship 2024 groups
The 12 teams attending the Skyesports Championship 2024 have been split into two groups of six. The MongolZ
The MongolZ undoubtedly arrive in India as one of the heavy favorites to win the Skyesports Championship 2024.
The all-Mongolian squad led by Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren won YaLLa Compass 2024 in June, beating teams such as Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis, Heroic, and ENCE on their way to the title. The MongolZ didn't get far in the Esports World Cup 2024, so they should be extra motivated at the Indian tournament.
Eternal Fire
Eternal Fire are on the verge of cementing themselves as a solid tier-one team just like The MongolZ are too. The Turkish side made the playoffs of the PGL Copenhagen Major in March and won the CCT Global Finals 2024 more recently in May against the likes of Team Liquid, Astralis, Fnatic, and GamerLegion.
ENCE
Although ENCE kicked off the year in style as Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander led his Polish teammates to a surprising quarterfinals finish at IEM Katowice in February, they weren't able to replicate that success in the other big tournaments of the first semester of 2024.
ENCE, however, brought in Monte's former star Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev and promoted its young academy AWPer Paavo "podi" Heiskanen for the rest of the season. We'll know at Skyesports Championship 2024 whether or not ENCE will fare better in the rest of the year with these two additions.
True Rippers
Even though True Rippers have never attended an international tournament before, it will be fun to watch them play as they're the sole Indian team attending Skyesports Championship 2024. The Indian scene remains pretty much at a grassroots level, so this is an excellent opportunity for True Rippers to learn from the experience and perhaps show some tactics we have never seen before.
