Copenhagen Major Opening Matchups finalized

After several weeks of intense action during the Regional Major Rankings, we now have the final teams for the PGL Copenhagen Major. And with it, we also have our opening matches for the Major that kicks off later this month. Here are the initial amtchups for the PGL Copenhagen Major as well as a brief rundown on the format. 

Here are the Copenhagen Major opening matches that start on March 17, 2024:

The CS2 Major features 24 teams out of which 16 will take part in the opening stage. These teams play each other in a Swiss System format where all elimination and advancement matches are best-of-three series. All other matches are best-of-one.

Only the top eight teams will advance to the next stage. The bottom eight teams are elimination. The top eight teams will go on to the elimination stage where they will face off against the Elimination Stage invites. The eight elimination stage invitees are as follows:

Valve released Counter-Strike 2 last year much to the surprise of the community. With improved graphics, better smokes, and a new sub-tick system, Counter-Strike 2 brings something for everyone. The BLAST.tv Paris Major was the final Major of Global Offensive. Team Vitality won the final CS:GO Major after a 2-0 victory over GamerLegion.

Valve has outlined a system to determine the opening matchups of a Counter-Strike 2 Major. Teams receive Valve points for their performance during the Regional Major Ranking events. 

The Copenhagen Major kicks off on March 17. With a $1.25 million prize pool and the notoriety of being the first Counter-Strike 2 Major, this event holds special significance for fans and participating teams alike. The Copenhagen Major will have three stages - the opening stage, the elimination stage, and finally the playoffs.
