The Mongolz go up against Team Spirit next.
Team MongolZ had a dominating performance in their second match of ESL Pro League Season 20 after a 26-1 victory over KOI across two maps. The Mid Bracket Round 1 match will now see KOI move down to their final chance at survival. MongolZ meanwhile, are now up against Team Spirit, after a surprise loss for the latter against MIBR.

Mongolz Dominate KOI
While neither team was at risk of elimination, this was still a very important match. A loss would send the losing team down to the lower bracket, where it would be a do-or-die situation. A win would ensure they retain their buffer match so that even if they did lose next, they would not face immediate elimination.
KOI became the first team to face elimination from the ESL Pro League following a drubbing at the hands of The Mongolz. The entire series was over rather quickly after the Iberian squad did not make a sizeable dent in the Mongolz playbook.
With 33 frags to his name, 910 was clearly one of the most influential players in the server. He was closely followed by Senzu who finished the series with 31 frags and just nine deaths. On KOI , two players did not break the double-digit barrier scoring 9 frags in total across two maps. The entire series was a masterclass by The Mongolz as they were able to not only outperform.
The MongolZ secured their first series victory in the ESL Pro League Season 20 with this win. Previously, they lost 0-2 to 3DMAX. KOI had a tough opener against G2 esports, and they were the big underdogs. Their loss to G2 esports was not entirely unexpected, however, the nature of their loss to The Mongolz definitely raises a few eyebrows. It will be interesting to see how the team would manage to bounce back after this drubbing against The Mongolz. KOI will face off against Wildcard who fell down to the lower bracket after 0-2 loss to 9z Team.
The ESL Pro League Season 20 kicked off on September 3, 2024 and will continue for nearly 20 days to end on the 22nd. The League has 32 teams in total competing via four different groups. The League has a $750,000 prize pool with bragging rights and a substantial portion of the prize money for the winner.
