This victory of G2 Esports is great for the entire Counter-Strike community: yes, even if you are not a fan of the org. Instead of entering a one-team era again, we can witness healthy competition, with a few big teams battling for the trophies.
This entire Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament turned out to be pretty wonderful. BLAST Open Fall 2025 in London revealed how chaotic and unpredictable professional CS2 can be at the moment. It was hard to see G2 reaching the top. FURIA had a wonderful run. Spirit failed again, after two brilliant wins at the start of this season.
The biggest story is still the continued downfall of Team Vitality. After the semifinal, it looked like they were back on top. Vitality defeated MOUZ, the opponents who started their series of losses. But when everyone began to talk about the Vitality era again, G2 Esports emerged victorious in a tough grand final.
For the tournament champions themselves, it’s an extremely important win. G2, as an esports org, restored the faith of their fans after losing two key players earlier this year. The current roster proved they are capable of great synergy and mind-blowing individual plays in high-stakes matches.
The path wasn’t easy for G2 at BLAST Open Fall 2025 in London, and it makes the victory even more meaningful.
From the losers' bracket to big eliminations
Nothing promised a good tournament for G2 at the beginning. In the online qualifier for BLAST London, G2 Esports lost their opening match versus Team Liquid.
The disastrous mood did not last long, as G2 had a chance to prove themselves in big matchups. Eliminating FlyQuest is not a big achievement now, but facing and beating Team Spirit in the lower bracket finals of their group — it sure is a big deal.
In the BLAST Open Fall 2025 Playoffs, G2 started with opponents with a relatively similar level of success.
FaZe players kept struggling with coordination under big negative pressure. They had a nice tournament till the quarterfinal; FaZe defeated NAVI and made Vitality sweat. But in the match versus G2, FaZe could do little, hanging by an overtime on Dust II to try to remain in the tournament.
FURIA had a great run in the online qualifier. They finished that stage as #1 in their group: Spirit and MOUZ became their victims with clear 2:0 wins.
Denying Vitality’s era
No one expected surprises from the grand final at BLAST London 2025. After Vitality defeated MOUZ, the community prepared to witness another tournament win by this really amazing team. G2 Esports had their plans, though.
G2 stated their ambitions on Dust II, winning 13:3. Very few teams can hope to beat Vitality this way.
Vitality seemingly recovered on Mirage and Overpass to reach the tournament point.
When the fans returned in their minds to the previous picture of Vitality holding the trophy, G2 demonstrated miraculous recovery on Inferno, where they won in overtime. The last map was a Train ticket to the downfall abyss for Vitality.

MOUZ may need changes
Losing to Vitality in the semifinal confirmed a deep issue in the current version of MOUZ. The team just can’t win tournaments. There are always stronger opponents who stop them:
- Spirit at IEM Cologne 2025 and BLAST Bounty Fall 2025
- Falcons at the CS2 Esports World Cup 2025
The coach of MOUZ, Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen, looked frustrated after the grand final in London. Some changes are in the air: they are not necessary about the roster, maybe some behind-the-scenes processes.
Spirit: To shadows
After winning two big Counter-Strike 2 esports events, Team Spirit couldn't find their pace.
- They lost to HEROIC at the CS2 EWC 2025.
- Spirit could not qualify for the finals in London at BLAST Open Fall 2025. They lost to FURIA and G2.
BLAST Open Fall 2025 wasn’t an overstacked tournament, as The MongolZ, Aurora, and Team Falcons skipped it. They and Team Spirit participate in FISSURE Playground #2, from Sept. 12 to Sept. 21. Vitality and MOUZ play at ESL Pro League Season 22, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 12.
G2 players compete in both these events, so it’s interesting to see where they go after this success in London.
