It was one hell of a match.

G2 and FaZe Clan are both in group A of the BLAST Premier Fall Final in Copenhagen, Denmark. The international powerhouses clashed on Sept. 25 in one of the opening matches.

This match has become somewhat of a derby over the past years, due to the friendly banter exchanged by Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and karrigan, and this time it was the former who left the stage with a smile on his face

Here's everything you need to know about how the match between G2 and FaZe at BLAST Premier Fall Final went.

G2 vs FaZe at BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024: Recap

Dust 2

G2 had a great start in the series as they won in FaZe's map pick. The first half had a lot of back-and-forth action and finished 6-6, but once G2 switched to T-side they completely outclassed FaZe. m0NESY had a lot of impact in the second half and helped G2 win seven rounds whilst dropping only one.

Inferno

Though G2 won the pistol round thanks to a malbsMd ace and got up to 3-0 fast, FaZe took control of the match when gun rounds started and won the first half by 8-4. Snax was a bit criticized in the broadcast as he was having a hard time fragging and the strats also didn't work.

G2 got the pistol round and the anti-eco again in the second half, but history repeated and FaZe absolutely demolished them once they could afford AK-47s. karrigan's calling was working and the match truly ended when G2 fumbled a four-versus-two advantage on round 16. They never recovered from that and FaZe ran away with an easy 13-6 victory.

Mirage

It wasn't looking like G2 would defeat FaZe as the latter had a brilliant first half and won by 8-4 on the T-side. The commentators criticized Snax again during the first half, but the Polish veteran turned things around in the second half when G2 switched to the T-side.

Not only G2 had some good reads on the T-side, but Snax also chimmed in with more frags than both Dust 2 and Infenro combined. However, it's malbsMd who should get the laurels for this result as he was absolutely headshotting FaZe on the second half, and won the final round of the map all by himself.

G2 kept their heads up high and made a comeback on Mirage to run away with the series (Screenshot by esports.gg via <a href="https://www.hltv.org/matches/2375766/g2-vs-faze-blast-premier-fall-final-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HLTV.org</a>)

You guys were down 4-8 on Mirage and you showed a lot of resilience to comeback and win that map. What did you guys talk during that pause before the second half started?

"Honestly I think our preparation was really good for the T-side. I was really having a tough CT-side, so it's kind my bad as well. All we said was like 'we can do this, we can have a better T-side and be better than them.' And then we were better than them and that gave us confidence.

You were pretty good in the pistol rounds today, which was a key factor for you to pull out that victory. Are you guys putting some extra focus on pistols? Is there something you could highlight?

"Not really. huNter- is really good at creating pistols and that kind of stuff. I think he has a real special part on that, he helps out a lot, so it's mostly on his bag."

The commentators pointed out that Snax was struggling in getting frags. Is that because he's micromanaging so much he can't focus on his individual game?

"I mean, he knows he isn't playing at his best and everyone knows that. But, everyone trusts this guy. We know he can be really good, but we have been fucking up our micro and individual decisions. He's been calling names, looking at everyone's nades, and he can't focus on his crosshair to kill, so it's super hard. It's also hard to play super well when you have four super fraggers, so I think people are exaggerating. You have me entrying, then you have NiKo killing people, then m0NESY and huNter-. You can't ask Snax to kill 30 when that is actually impossible.

Do you think G2 are performing close to their best?

"I'm 100% sure I can perform better and also that the team can perform better. I think we did really well, of course, we could have done better on Inferno, but we did really well on the two other maps. If we play like we did on Dust 2 and Mirage, we can do really well at this event."

What's next for both G2 and FaZe?

While G2 will play against Natus Vincere tomorrow, Sept. 26 for a spot in the semifinals, FaZe will meet Falcons on the same day to avoid elimination.
