m0NESY will likely stay on G2 at least for the first half of 2025.

Russian CS2 superstar AWPer m0NESY will likely be on G2's roster next year, at least for the first semester.

Falcons reportedly made an offer for m0NESY so he could join his current teammate Nikola "NiKo" Kovač in the new team, but G2 doesn't want to sell despite m0NESY entertaining the offer from Falcons.

All this information comes from a joint report between HLTV.org and the CS2 insider Guillaume "neL" Rathier, and is in line with what G2's CEO Alban "Stilgar" Dechelotte said in October. The CEO confirmed NiKo's departure at the end of the year, but said he wanted to keep m0NESY as "he's the heart of the project".

HLTV and neL's report also adds to what G2's head coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas said after they were eliminated in the Shanghai Major semifinals this month. In an interview with HLTV.org, TaZ mentioned that G2 would lose only one player, hinting at NiKo.

Should G2 retain m0nESY, all they need for 2025 is a new anchor

G2's CEO Stilgar mentioned in the October interview that the plan for 2025 is to move the Guatemalan star Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa to NiKo's role.

MalbsMd proved in 2024 that he should take star roles rather than anchoring a bombsite as he did in G2 due to the role clash with NiKo. So, this means that G2 would need to sign a new anchor.

However, there are not a lot of anchors currently looking for a new team. The only proven CS2 anchor who is in free agency is Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy.

The PGL Stockholm Major 2021 champion has been on Cloud9's bench since April, but wants to return to competition. Aside from Perfecto, all the other star anchors such as Keith "NAF" Markovic, Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo, and Justin "jks" Savage aren't free agents at the moment.

That's all for now. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more CS2 news.
