ESL Pro League Season 21 breaks viewership records

The esports action for ESL Pro League (EPL) Season 21 continues as CS2 teams duke it out for the lion's share of $400,000 USD. Read on for some EPL Season 21 viewership details.

Despite the overhaul of format and number of invited teams, the circuit has seen success when it comes to viewership. According to Esports Charts, this season has the "strongest group stage peak viewership" compared to previous seasons. For example, the EPL Season 21 Group Stage had 178,429 average viewers, making it a series record against previous EPL tournaments.

This stage also reached 550,134 peak viewers during the G2 versus Natus Vincere (NAVI) plus Team Falcons versus FURIA showdowns. Esports Chart cited "Brazilian fans, Russian-speaking viewers, and an international English-language audience" as the key contributors to this result.

While Brazilian fans enjoyed Alexandre “Gaules” Borba co-streams and therefore contributed to the viewership of Team Falcons versus FURIA, Russian viewers were interested in G2’s Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov faceoff against NAVI.

Meanwhile, the Mongolian-speaking audience reached a new record of 71,838 peak viewers. This was in part thanks to The MongolZ  qualifying for the Playoffs.

Speaking of the EPL Season 21 Playoffs, they will begin on March 13 and continue throughout March 16. After duking it out in a single-elimination bracket plus best-of-three (Bo3) matches, only two teams will remain for a best-of-five (Bo5) match.
