It seems that the majority is happy.

While we still can't pinpoint the exact ramifications of the latest CS2 update, it definitely has the potential to shake up the meta as pros are already reacting to it.

This is because not only has Valve pretty much revamped Vertigo with the changes to the A bombsite, but the developers have also tweaked much-needed aspects of the game's economy. Moving forward, for example, Counter-Terrorists should have money to afford defuse kits in more rounds as Valve decreased the cost of the M4A4 and the Incendiary grenade. Additionally, Valve also nerfed the Terrorists' economy by reducing their round loss bonus when they plant the bomb.

Here are the best reactions from CS2 pros to the May 24 update.

One of North America's finest pros, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, sounded pretty excited about the CS2 update.

"SHEEEEEEEESH, huge update actually. this is gonna be some big changes," Complexity's star EliGE wrote on X after seeing the update. "This actually reminds me of old vertigo when the map first came out. Few differences of course but surprised to get these similar changes back."

MAJ3R

Although the Eternal Fire in-game leader Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli questioned Valve why they didn't fix a known boost bug, he mentioned the update will positively affect the CT side.

"Good update overall," MAJ3R said on X. "And also it's super that now Ts can't buy Galil [on] second round after bomb [was] planted on pistol round. It will help CT Side. Overall the update is good from my perspective. About Vertigo, meta will change for sure."

degster

While HEROIC's star AWper Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov initially complained as he had just reviewed a lot of Vertigo demos from other top teams, he seems to be aboard the changes.

"Tbh I like the changes on Vertigo, also update with CT molotov + m4 is [a] good thing to have," degster said on X.

Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, the in-game leader of FURIA, seemed glad Valve tweaked the game's economy and theorized what could happen in the future.

"Big economy changes, FalleN said on X. "That 1-0 [CT] round in which the T plants the bomb is going to be less of a pain now, with the loss bonus reduction, it will reduce Ts using Galil and Kevlar+Helmet [in the second round]. Maybe this could mean players will drop AK-47s to teammates with Kevlar. We'll see."

One of the best CS2 pros in the world, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, thinks it's best to remove Vertigo instead of altering the map in updates.

"Just give up on it already," NiKo said on X.

jL

Natus Vincere's (NAVI) CS2 star would also prefer to see Vertigo removed and urged Valve to give the NAVI players their in-game trophy for winning the PGL Copenhagen Major in March.

"All my homies hate Vertigo, jL said on X. "They removed entire buildings on Vertigo, but couldn't replace CS:GO with CS2 on the trophy and call it a day smh," he added.

We could see the new CS2 update debut at IEM Dallas, a $250,000 LAN tournament featuring the best pros from all over the world. The event will kick off on May 27.

That's all for now. However, stay tuned to esports.gg for more CS2 news.
