The reveal of the first Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major of 2027 has some truly exciting aspects. It’s the first-ever Valve-sponsored event in Argentina and only the second in South America. The organizer is a local brand, FiReLEAGUE.
Passion for CS2 esports unites the world, and we get another location added to the map of Major destinations. A tournament of the highest level is coming to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The first-ever Counter-Strike Major in Argentina
Arguably, the biggest thrill of this announcement is that the CS2 community receives another country that hosts a Major. We had many events across the world, and now, the eyes are on Argentina.

Argentinian teams may not be super strong on the international level, but they sure have a good potential for growth. Some of the currently well-known rosters from this country are 9z Team and BESTIA. They participate in the American qualifier for IEM Rio 2026.
Previously, only one CS2 Major happened in South America. It was Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022.
FiReLEAGUE CS2: A Major hosted by a smaller brand
The CS2 esports schedule for 2026 is mainly filled with events by a few huge tournament organizers: ESL, BLAST, and PGL. It’s rather an unusual twist to have a Major tournament by an Argentine company.
FiReLEAGUE has been hosting lower-tier Counter-Strike tournaments since 2020. Last year, they organized FiReLEAGUE Buenos Aires 2025: with a $100,000 prize pool but only four participants in the final brackets. Imperial Esports from Brazil won that tournament after defeating 9z Team in the grand final.
Traditional format at CS2 FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027
Like all Valve-sponsored CS2 events, FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 features an extended competitive format — with many opportunities on esports betting platforms.
- 32 teams.
- Three Swiss-system stages. Teams with higher VRS join closer to the Playoffs.
- The final single-elimination brackets happen in front of a live audience. The best eight teams battle for the Major trophy.
The CS2 Major in Buenos Aires is from May 31 to June 20, 2027. The second Major of 2027 is reportedly in Shanghai.
We sure have a year of competition ahead of this event. In 2026, the Counter-Strike community can witness Majors in Cologne and Singapore.
