We did not get the m0NESY versus sh1ro match-up that we were expecting at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025, but we certainly got a show.
BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 closes out day two with another fantastic match, as Team Spirit and Team Falcons prepare to go head-to-head. With both teams securing clean victories on day one, it was time for them to fight for a spot in the semi-finals. There are many stories to be written in this series, not least the battle of the AWPers, Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.
m0NESY looks to use his birthday wish for a win

The two teams have not faced one another since BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2.
Spirit has won their last three meetings without response, but this is a new look for Falcons.
Players to watch: m0NESY, donk, sh1ro, NiKo.
Even after a short hiatus through April, Spirit has returned to Counter-Strike 2, looking ready to reignite their challenge. In their first match back, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, Boris “magixx” Vorobiev, and sh1ro were all at their peak, even if it was a jetlagged FlyQuest in their path.
Today, their challenger may be a bit more well-rested and ready to take the fight to them, as they take on Falcons. Coming off a magnificent showing at IEM Melbourne, Falcons are hungry to get back to the top. In their opening series at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025, they proved to be far too strong for FaZe Clan, even after a shaky second half on Ancient. But, Team Falcons will be riding that high from Australia, looking to power through their opponent.
Interestingly, it is both sh1ro and m0NESY who are on the radar for today. The stats show the two players are closely matched. While m0NESY is leading in kills per round, sh1ro is slightly ahead in the Kills/Assist/Survival/Trade (KAST) ratio.
However, with m0NESY celebrating his birthday today, he hopes to convert some of his wishes into clutches.

Highlights
It was a masterclass first game from Spirit, denying Falcons any real foothold on Mirage. Although it was the map pick of Falcons, Spirit had their number. There was no sign of the top-fragging m0NESY throughout the game. On the other side, while sh1ro stayed quiet, donk and zont1x seized complete control, leading Spirit to a flawless T-side and a dominant 13-4 win.

Ancient seemed to be where Falcons finally came to life, but not completely by the hands of m0NESY. After they initially took a commanding lead, it was not something that they could easily hold onto. The teams hit the halfway point with the score tied at 6-6. The second half was absolutely perfect for Falcons. NiKo’s domination, along with flawless execution, gave Falcons an amazing 13-6 win on Spirit’s map choice.

The final map took the teams to Dust 2. With a spot in the semi-finals of the BLAST Rivals Spring 2025 on the line, both kept it close. Spirit held onto a 7-5 lead at the switch, before extending it further soon after with some fantastic play from sh1ro and donk.
It was on this map that m0NESY finally started to show his prowess again, helping his team initiate their comeback. Everything came down to the wire. When the dust settled, the two teams had forced it into overtime (OT). Although Spirit tried, they were taken out of the equation in 4 straight rounds of OT, where Falcons were unmatched.
It is not over for either of these teams at BLAST Rivals Spring 2025. For Falcons, a semi-finals showing awaits, as they get a much-needed rest. Spirit, on the other hand, will now need to take on Wildcard in the quarterfinals and hope to avoid elimination.
