What is CookieRun: OvenSmash?

CookieRun: OvenSmash is a new brawler that has units battle in short but intense rounds. At launch, it has six game modes in total and the fast-pace matches typically last for about three minutes. It’s available for download on iOS and Android devices.

How to play CookieRun: OvenSmash

The goal in CookieRun: OvenSmash is to defeat the enemy units. Players can attack foes with GingerBrave’s candy canes, toss bombs as Cherry Cookie, and heal as Peppermint Cookie. They can also use role-based abilities and control their units directly. Examples of roles include Tank, Bruiser, Assassin, Marksman, Mage, Bomber, Controller, and Support.

Don’t forget about the random spells that can buff attack power or movement speed. Spells can even shrink a unit’s size. A couple of examples include Sticky Trap and Dragon Summoner.

All of this can be done in different game modes such as Castle Crasher and Drop the Beat as well. In Castle Crasher, which is a three-versus-three (3v3) mode, players must escort a turtle across the map. Think of it like escorting a payload. As for Drop the Beat, players claim victory by controlling the stage the longest.

When not in a match, players can visit the Platter Plaza. This is CookieRun: OvenSmash’s social hub. It’s also where players can customize their units, play mini-games, take on hidden quests, and tour the area on a helicopter.

CookieRun: OvenSmash and TCG recognize North American audience

In a letter to esports.gg, Devsisters stated that the CookieRun universe has grown into a global franchise of more than 300 million players. The letter then highlighted that according to YouTube’s “Global Culture & Trends report,” it’s one of the top 10 trending topics in the United States.

Meanwhile, an official announcement revealed that more than 3 million players pre-registered ahead of today’s launch of CookieRun: OvenSmash, and in a few hours after its launch, the title reached the top spot in the App Store.

In addition to CookieRun: OvenSmash’s launch on March 26, the franchise plans to follow that up with the CookieRun: Braverse: A Game of Truth and Deceit expansion on March 27. CookieRun: Braverse is a trading card game (TCG).

According to the letter to esports.gg and the announcement, these releases expand the CookieRun into both digital and physical gaming. It’s also a significant moment of growth as it continues to gain recognition among Western audiences.
