xQc calls out CDL pros: “Go get a job at Home Depot or McDonald’s”

Streamer xQc didn’t hold back with his opinion on the CDL and its players.

The current state of Call of Duty is perhaps the worst it's been at any point in time. Players are leaving Black Ops 6 and Warzone at a historic rate due to a myriad of issues, with hackers and a general lack of updates as the two primary problems. This has resulted in the community turning on Activision and its developers even more so than in the past.

However, even the professional Call of Duty League is catching some flak from the community during this uncertain time. One of the more outspoken voices against the CDL is popular streamer Felix "xQc" Lengyel, who recently went on a serious rant about the professional players in the league.

During a recent stream in January, xQc went on one of his infamous tangents, this time directed at Call of Duty. The rant wasn't necessarily directed at the game itself, but more so at the pro players in the CDL.

Apparently, xQc feels pro players influence the game's direction too much, which leads to overall boredom and monotony year after year. He certainly didn't hold back when giving his opinion on how the pros should handle themselves in the future:

Pro players need to f***** shut up, log off the game, throw the computer in the garbage, and go get a job at Home Depot or McDonald's.

It appears xQc's main gripe with pro players is how they insert their own opinions into how the game should be played. This comes in the form of GAs, or "Gentlemen's Agreements."

For those unaware, CDL pros often will "GA" a weapon or other item in the game, which restricts any pro from using it in any capacity. Most of the time, GAs cover all but two or three weapons and a majority of the scorestreaks, perks, and equipment.

This leaves pro players to use one assault rifle and one submachine gun with a sniper rifle sometimes sneaking its way into the meta. However, in Black Ops 6, all snipers are a part of the GAs.

Once pros have decided on the GAs, Call of Duty developers will then restrict those items in Ranked Play, forcing all regular players to abide by what the pros decide. Sometimes, the developers won't follow one or two GAs, but a majority of the time, Ranked Play is made up of the same weapons and items you see in the CDL.

xQc takes major issue with this, stating, "The game could be more. You can only use one gun out of 60 and four attachments even though there are six slots. On one map, don't go to the left side because I [CDL pros] don't like that part of the map."

The streamer also expressed disdain for the fact CDL players can only use a controller and no keyboard and mouse players are allowed in the league.

OpTic reacts to xQc's comments about the CDL

Recently, three OpTic Gaming members including owner Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, sat down for a podcast and reviewed this rant from xQc. While the members of the podcast thought the clip was funny overall, they also agreed with many of xQc's points.

Nick "Maniac" Kershner asked the simple question, "Do you think the CDL would be better without GAs? Snipers, smokes, different guns." H3CZ responded plainly by saying, "Yeah," which is the overwhelming opinion shared by most of the COD community.

However, H3CZ went on to say that the COD developers need to better balance the weapons and items every year. Even if things are more balanced, though, H3CZ would still want to see some GAs in place, like Flashbangs and other overpowered items.

The OpTic podcast mostly agreed that there are too many GAs in place, especially right now in Black Ops 6. Of course, some GAs make sense, but pros have taken things to new heights this year.

Between xQc's opinion and the pros' decisions, there exists a happy middle ground. Pro players don't have to GA as many items as they have in Black Ops 6, but not every weapon and item should be allowed in the CDL, despite how much xQc and others might want that to happen.

Unfortunately, pro players seem to have their minds made up this year, so we're unlikely to see much change before the next COD title. Hopefully, the CDL and its players can take some feedback from the community and implement a better system for how GAs work. This would not only improve the viewing experience of the CDL but also make Ranked Play in every title more exciting and varied.
