Full details have been released.

Activision have released details for the World Series of Warzone 2024 season. There are some significant changes from previous years of competition. Changes have been based on feedback from the community and WSOW competitors.

2024 WSOW Changes in short:

  • New Global Final format including a new Match Point format
  • Top heavy prize pool
  • More matches for qualification
  • Battle Royale competitive settings

Competition starts very soon, with the first qualifiers starting on May 24.

World Series of Warzone 2024 will use Match Point

One notable addition to the 2024 World Series of Warzone will be the Match Point format. This format, which has been used in the Apex Legends Global Series for several years, is designed to create 'hype' in the final stage of a Battle Royale.

The fundamental principle is that when someone wins, it is a winning moment. This is better for fans, and ultimately increases viewership. Otherwise, a Battle Royale set can be over at half way, if a team runs away with it. Otherwise, who wins can be a mathematical equation, which is also very boring.

The downside, at least in Apex Legends, has been teams performing very well and not winning. A team might have a lot more points than their opponents, but they don't take home the grand prize. However, this is undoubtedly a great move for those wanting to watch the 2024 World Series of Warzone.
