MW2 Hardcore returns

Activision recently revealed a slew of details for the upcoming MW2 and Warzone 2 Season 2. The second season for both games will feature a plethora of changes. The name of the game seems to be ”return” as familiar past features like MW2 Hardcore mode and more will arrive soon.

The recently delayed second season of Warzone 2 and MW2 will arrive on Feb. 15. On that day, both games will see some major changes, including improvements for both the overall stability and performance. These changes are intended to reduce some of the much-maligned crashes that players have dealt with since launch.

In addition, numerous user interface changes will arrive to simplify the visual appearance of the menus and make it easier to locate features like the store and the Gunsmith. This update will also include the usual suspects, such as weapon balances, battle royale changes, and more. Here are all of the major features that were just announced.

Major features debut in Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 2

Both Warzone 2 and MW2 fans can look forward to some significant changes with Season 2. Alongside the spotlight additions like MW2 Hardcore mode, there will be smaller integral changes that should improve the overall gameplay.

Modern Warfare 2 Hardcore mode

Modern Warfare 2 sorely lacked the Hardcore mode, alongside other features like Ranked Play, at launch. Thankfully, both will return in Season 2 alongside new MW2 Hardcore mode details. It’s presumed that classic features of this mode, such as no mini map, lower health points, and friendly fire, will be all featured here.

Three-plated default vests

Warzone 2 players will enjoy numerous changes to improve the overall battle royale and DMZ experiences. One of the most popular complaints from the community has been for the shield plate vests you have at the start of a match. Players begin each match with a standard two-plate vest.

Once in Al Mazrah, there is the option to upgrade to a three-plate vest that provides better shielding capabilities. Players have long disliked this feature for requiring you to have some luck in finding a better shield vest. Thankfully, feedback was heard from the community and three-plated shield vests will be the default in Season 2. This will be one less loot item to worry about as everyone will have the same vests from now on.

1v1 Gulag mode

As previously teased, 1v1 Gulag will become available again in battle royale. Currently, it has a 2v2 format where two teams of two battle it out for a second chance at winning on Al Mazrah. The community can look forward to the return of the classic 1v1 duel to the death for a redeployment in Season 2.

In addition, the Domination-like flag in the middle of the arena will return as the overtime mechanic, instead of the Jailer. The loot pool for players’ randomly-chosen weapons will change up, too, offering more primary weapons and no more shotguns.

Movement changes

There will be even more changes in Warzone 2 Season 2 that will improve the movement mechanics across the battle royale map. Most of them will have to do with players who apply shield plates in the middle of combat. You’ll move a bit faster when applying plates now and you’ll be able to smash through doors, similar to sprinting, while applying shields.

This should make getting out of a bad situation easier for players. There are still many more changes besides these like changes to how much cash you find when looting and even money in the Gulag. Furthermore, buy stations will be easier to access and have unlimited stock of certain items like loadout drops.

There will be smaller changes throughout the experience as well. These include the removal of all medium and large backpacks, enemy balancing for DMZ, and more. Further details should be announced in the near future for Warzone 2 Season 2 as we approach the Feb. 15 release date.
