Treyarch has decided to not stay silent on recent rumors that Black Ops 6 would include a mission revolving around 9/11.

If you have played a Call of Duty campaign, you know that the game takes elements from real history and includes them in a fictional story. Recently, a rumor surfaced online that Black Ops 6 was going to include a mission relating to 9/11, the tragedy that struck America back in 2001.

Treyarch has made a statement on these rumors.

Once the rumor surfaced that the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, would be a mission in Black Ops 6, many fans neglected to doubt the theory. I mean, with the "No Russian" mission in Call of Duty's past, it seemed to some like a 9/11 mission would not be out of the realm of possibilities.

Treyarch, though, made sure to shut down these claims.

"Despite online rumors - Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 WILL NOT feature the tragedy of 9/11 in any way, shape or form," said a Treyarch developer. "We're [Treyarch] not trying to be provocative just to be provocative, we are inspired by reality but take stuff like this seriously."

So why did people believe that Black Ops 6 would include a mission involving 9/11?

Conspiracies and more

Despite Black Ops 6 taking place during the Gulf War era (1991), many still believed that the game would include a mission involving 9/11. Why?

Well, many across the internet have spread various rumors and conspiracies about the nature of the tragic events of September 11. With a storyline revolving around conspiracies within the U.S. government, many thought that it was not unlikely for a 9/11 conspiracy to be included.

Luckily, though, Treyarch knew better. With over 3,000 victims involved in the attack of 9/11, the company understood the disrespect that would come along with including a mission about the tragic event.
