The legendary movie director, Steven Spielberg, almost directed the official Call of Duty movie, but Activision got spooked by his demands.
In recent news from the last week or so, Activision announced that an official Call of Duty movie was in the works with Paramount. However, it was recently leaked that the famous director, Steven Spielberg, was heavily passionate about directing the Call of Duty movie, but spooked Activision with some of his demands, causing Activision to make the decision to sell the movie rights to Paramount.

Fans of Call of Duty have been ecstatic over the last week after the news revolving around an official live-action Call of Duty movie being made dropped. Even if you do not play Call of Duty, a movie in this world will still be fast-paced, action-packed and incredibly fun to watch for just about anyone.

However, the famous Steven Spielberg almost directed the Call of Duty movie before it was officially sold to Paramount. Why would Activision not let such a legendary director take hold of the movie? Well, it seems as if Spielberg spooked them.

It would seem that when wanting to direct the movie, Steven Spielberg wrote in his demands that he would get full creative control over production and the final cut.
What does this mean? Well, it would mean that the entire movie would be written and directed by him without Activision intervening, and that the final version of the movie would be how Spielberg decides it.
Plenty of times, directors (very common with Marvel) will direct and have a movie cut to their script, and then the studio will cut out various scenes that the director may have left in if he had the rights to the final cut.
Well, Spielberg's demands were too much for Activision, as they got spooked and sold the rights to Paramount, where they would have more control.
Spielberg has a vast history with Call of Duty, as the director has mentioned in the past how much he enjoys the games.
We can only ever dream of a world where Spielberg, the visionary, got to direct a Call of Duty movie. But hey, maybe the director will take on a different ambitious video game project.
