Season 4 Reloaded delivers almost no content in BO6, and that’s a problem

The newest update in Black Ops 6 is delivering barely any content.

This week, the Season 4 Reloaded update arrives in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It's the final major update before Season 5 arrives, which could theoretically be the final seasonal update in BO6 before Black Ops 7 is released. This seems more likely than the game receiving a Season 6 update, given the fact that it appears Treyarch and Activision are simply running out of content for BO6.

The lack of content that's coming with Season 4 Reloaded is extremely disappointing, especially on the multiplayer side of things. After last year with Modern Warfare III, the community knows what developers are capable of delivering from season to season, and BO6 hasn't really come close to offering the same amount of content as its predecessor.

Season 4 Reloaded offers very little content in BO6

If you visit the official Season 4 Reloaded blog post on Activision's website, you'll notice that the section for BO6 multiplayer is the shortest out of the bunch between it, Warzone, and Zombies. The only major pieces of content specifically coming to multiplayer are the new Fringe and Eclipse maps, some Cel-shaded variants of existing maps, and the Party Ops LTM. That's it.

On the general side of things, multiplayer is also receiving the new Olympia shotgun and the Pickaxe melee weapon, but those weapons are coming for all game modes. Season 4 Reloaded is also introducing a few weapon attachments you can put on various guns to change how they behave.

Finally, we also saw some intel on a couple of events coming in Season 4 Reloaded: Beavis & Butt-Head and CODToons. These events will likely last two weeks apiece to close out Season 4 and lead us into Season 5.

While two weapons, two maps, two events, some attachments, and an LTM might seem like a decent update, we have to look a little deeper beyond the initial scope of the content to understand why it's so disappointing.

First off, the weapon attachments available in BO6 have been lackluster at best, as the attachments often end up harming the weapon they're equipped on rather than improving it. Also, the attachments will likely be unlocked through the two events in Season 4 Reloaded, which will presumably be more XP-gaining events that don't have a lot of substance. Once again, if we go back to MW3 last year, we saw much more detailed events that rewarded animated camos and other unique rewards that haven't truly been offered yet in BO6.

The two new maps, one of which is a remaster of the beloved BO3 map Fringe, are the best pieces of content coming in Season 4 Reloaded. We'll also see Fringe added into BO6 Ranked Play with the update. However, the new Cel-shaded variants of existing maps don't really look too different from the originals, so it's puzzling why they're being marketed as "new" pieces of content.

Overall, Season 4 Reloaded is a disappointing update if you're a multiplayer fan. Sure, there are some highlights, but at this point in the life cycle of BO6, we should be seeing much more in terms of new, playable content.

Hopefully, the developers at Treyarch are saving content for Black Ops 7 and working hard to ensure a successful post-launch life cycle for that game. If that's the reason for such diminished content in BO6, then it's understandable, but still confusing as to why there's not enough content to go around for both games.
