New leaks should have the community more excited about Black Ops 7.

The season of leaking is upon us, and with the date of the official reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 approaching rapidly, insiders are spilling the beans on everything they know. There have been a few leaks for the new Call of Duty in particular that have raised the community's eyebrows significantly, as they are huge departures from the formula that Activision has established in recent years.

If these leaks turn out to be correct, it seems that Activision is either finally listening to fan feedback or the executives are truly worried about the impact a game like Battlefield 6 could have. Whatever the case may be, Black Ops 7 could be one of the most intriguing entries in the franchise in years if these leaks are accurate.

You can see what the new leaks are below.

Black Ops 7 leaks suggest a new direction for the COD franchise

These leaks come from renowned gaming insider @TheGhostOfHope, who has accurately reported on dozens of leaks about the Call of Duty franchise, COD esports, and other gaming titles as well. On Aug. 12, the insider leaked a few different aspects about Black Ops 7 multiplayer.

The first leak we saw from them was about Tactical Sprint, the controversial movement mechanic that was introduced with Modern Warfare 2019 and has been a part of every COD game since. Originally, TheGhostOfHope reported that there was a test build of Black Ops 7 that didn't have Tac Sprint as an option. However, the insider stated that this didn't mean Tac Sprint was removed from the game, as the test build could easily be reverted.

Some time later, though, TheGhostOfHope confirmed that the decision to remove Tac Sprint from Black Ops 7 seems to be permanent.

This is a massive choice on the part of Activision and developer Treyarch. Fans had been calling for the removal of Tac Sprint since the release of Black Ops 6, as the new omnimovement system makes Tac Sprint feel far too clunky and unnecessary. Treyarch was seemingly testing the community feedback to the removal of Tac Sprint when the Slipstream perk was introduced to BO6 in a mid-season update. The reaction to Slipstream has been extremely positive, which likely played a large role in the decision to remove the mechanic from Black Ops 7.

Fortunately for COD fans, the good news didn't stop there. Minutes after reporting that Tac Sprint was apparently removed, TheGhostOfHope also leaked that there are no doors on any 6v6 map in Black Ops 7 multiplayer.

According to the insider, some maps have automated doors like we see on maps such as Arsenal in Black Ops 4. However, the actual doors and the opening/closing mechanics they have are seemingly nonexistent in the current version of Black Ops 7.

Doors have long been a complaint of the COD community, as many feel they only add an extra obstacle to getting from point A to point B. Doors also make it easier for campers to set up shop in a specific area, as they can close the door and gain an advantage on enemies coming through.

So far, these are the two biggest leaks we've seen about Black Ops 7 in the lead-up to the global reveal at Gamescom 2025. We might see some of the leaks confirmed at the reveal, which takes place on Aug. 19.
