Crimsix has not been a part of OpTic Gaming in five years, but a recent article has apparently leaked his return.

Former OpTic Gaming player Ian "Crimsix" Porter has had quite the ride since retiring from competitive Call of Duty back in 2022. The three-time World Champion decided to pursue a career in racing and recently, he's begun to flourish in this new journey.

For the first part of his career in 2023, he competed under FaZe Clan's sim racing team, eventually sticking with the organization as a content creator up until this year. When Crimsix left the sim racing team, he decided to compete in actual racing circuits under various clubs. While the former CoD pro is still racing full-time, it appears he might be rejoining the content space under his old team, OpTic Gaming.

This particular leak comes from a recent article done by PorscheSprint, a racing website dedicated to tracking Porsche racers and events. The article is an interview with Crimsix that details his racing career up to this point. While the interview is fascinating in its own right, there's a line that perhaps leaks Crimsix's return to OpTic:

"Racing with RAFA Racing by JDX and now reunited with his old esports team, OpTic Gaming, he’s filling his time creating content online and improving daily. "

excerpt from PorscheSprint article entitled "Porter making the ultimate gamer-to-racer transition"

The key part of that sentence is "reunited with his old esports team, OpTic Gaming." Nothing has been made official regarding Crimsix's potential return to OpTic as of the time of writing.

Would OpTic welcome him back?

While OpTic CEO and founder Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez has recently mentioned that Crimsix would be welcomed back as a content creator, that was originally seen as a throwaway line by H3CZ on a live stream. However, with this added context from PorscheSprint, it looks like OpTic might be bringing one of its former players home.

H3CZ stated the following on stream in September 2024:

"It's something I would love to do [bring Crimsix back]. He's one of those dudes that's part of the family, he'll always be part of the family, he's won so much for us, so why not?"

Crimsix's history with OpTic Gaming

Crimsix competed for OpTic's Call of Duty team from 2014-2019. During this time, dubbed the "OpTic Dynasty" period, Crimsix won a world championship in 2017 and dozens of other events across multiple titles. After the Black Ops 4 season ended in 2019 and the CoD esports scene shifted to franchising, OpTic was no longer under H3CZ's control.

This led other members of the organization, namely Seth "Scump" Abner and H3CZ, to join NRG and the Call of Duty League's Chicago Huntsmen for the 2020 season. Crimsix wasn't invited to join the new roster and eventually joined the Dallas Empire in the CDL. The scorned Crimsix promised to "never forget" that Scump and H3CZ left him behind.

The split between OpTic's members and Crimsix created a rift between the two sides that lasted years. Crimsix infamously uninvited Scump to his wedding and spoke unfondly of OpTic's fans, the Greenwall, on multiple occasions. That rift has since been patched, with Crimsix even donning an OpTic jersey at the 2024 CDL Championship and joining Scump's watch party streams.

Could the rift be patched enough that Crimsix would join OpTic five years after leaving? It seems very possible given all we've seen and heard, but nothing is official yet.
