COD 2027 leaks are already happening, and they’re quite intriguing.

We haven't even seen the official worldwide reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 yet, and already leaks surrounding COD 2027 are beginning to surface. These leaks accompany some initial reports about Black Ops 7, including the release date for the title and when the annual COD Next event is going to take place. However, given that COD 2027 is still over two years away, these leaks are far more unlikely to pan out.

Nevertheless, the leaks are coming from a reputable source that doesn't miss often when it comes to Call of Duty reporting. So, you can see what the leaks have to say about COD 2027 in the article below.

COD 2027 leaks state the franchise is heading in a new direction

The leaks about COD 2027 come from @TheGhostOfHope on Twitter/X. This is the same account that leaked the Black Ops 7 release date and the date for COD Next 2025. They've also leaked dozens of different reports on Call of Duty over the years, and their leaks are almost always accurate in some way or another. Still, with the 2027 game being over two years away at this point, we shouldn't consider anything set in stone.

TheGhostOfHope claims that COD 2027 will not be a sequel to Advanced Warfare, which is what many in the community had hoped for. However, the game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, the same team behind the original Advanced Warfare, WWII, Vanguard, and the recent MW3. While it was initially reported that Sledgehammer pitched Advanced Warfare 2 some time ago, it appears Activision wants the studio to stay in the modern era.

According to the leaks, COD 2027 features a modern setting, but will still have a large emphasis placed on advanced movement. This means we could see a continuation or evolution of the omnimovement system that Black Ops 6 designed. However, Black Ops 7 is also going to feature advanced movement, so the 2027 game could evolve from that system as well. One thing is clear from TheGhostOfHope, though: COD 2027 won't have jetpacks.

Moving away from the movement aspect of the game, the leak states that this game will be a new sub-franchise in Call of Duty. This means it won't have the Modern Warfare or Black Ops name associated with it. It's unclear if the game will be set in the same universe as either of those sub-franchises, though.

TheGhostOfHope continued with their leaks and stated that the 2027 game will place a large focus on the multiplayer side of things. This includes potentially adding the popular Get High game mode from MW3 and making it a possible third game mode in addition to multiplayer and the Campaign. Unfortunately, this means that Zombies won't be a part of COD 2027, at least as of now.

The final part of the leak is perhaps the most interesting part. According to TheGhostOfHope, COD 2027 currently has some form of martial arts gameplay. This includes combat moves like "karate chops" and "karate kicks." What exactly this means for the game is unclear, as this could be a campaign-only aspect or these martial arts might be added to multiplayer via a perk or scorestreak. Sledgehammer could go all in with the mechanic, though, and make karate moves an integral part of multiplayer, replacing standard punches and knife attacks with these apparent chops and kicks.

There's not much point speculating, of course, as we really don't know anything beyond what the leaks say. As we said before, these leaks could easily turn out to be false due to the developers changing things between now and when COD 2027 is released in over two years. Still, the leaks themselves are quite interesting, as Sledgehammer has proven to be a developer that's willing to push the envelope of what's possible in a Call of Duty title.
