THEN. NOW. FOREVER

According to a teaser posted on the game's social media accounts, a Call of Duty x World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) collaboration is coming soon. While not a crossover you would expect, Call of Duty has recently partnered with various horror movie franchises and even Amazon's "The Boys" series. Activision has seemingly adopted an almost Fortnite approach to their game, but what could the Call of Duty x WWE crossover entail? Here's everything we know.

Call of Duty x WWE arrives on July 24

A brief teaser trailer for the Call of Duty WWE collaboration powerbombed its way into people's social media feeds on July 12. It provided a brief six-second look at a wrestling ring with the date July 24 closing out the trailer. Unfortunately, there isn't much to glean from the video, but three clear silhouettes were present before it ended.

At this point, it's safe to assume that three WWE wrestlers will appear in Call of Duty as in-game operators. Additionally, the image provided by Activision specifically references WWE Summerslam. However, it's unclear how this premium live event (PLE) will factor into the Call of Duty collaboration.

Which sports entertainment athletes will be in the game?

Two of the most obvious choices would be Cody Rhodes and John Cena, considering they are two of the most popular performers in WWE history. The American Nightmare finished the story at Wrestlemania 38, defeating Roman Reigns and the Bloodline to win the strap. He is now atop the WWE food chain and offers the perfect American aesthetic in Call of Duty.

John Cena is another no-brainer as one of, if not the, most influential wrestlers in WWE history. He just announced his farewell WWE tour, culminating at Wrestlemania 39, and recently appeared as Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1.

The third wrestler could be anyone, but Randy Orton would be a logical choice. He is an avid Call of Duty player and remains one of the top talents in the company even 22 years later. We'll have to wait to learn more, but the official announcement is expected to arrive on July 24.

What else does Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 offer?

There is no shortage of content included in Call of Duty Season 5. From new Warzone map updates to new multiplayer maps, there is something for everyone. In addition to the Call of Duty WWE collab, the upcoming movie "The Crow" will crossover into the COD world.
