Black Ops 6 multiplayer Ranked Play arrives earlier than usual.

The annual COD Next reveal event is underway as Activision and Treyarch showcase the latest entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 6. From the new omnimovement mechanic to the first in-depth look at multiplayer, COD: Next has already revealed quite a bit. However, one tidbit of information arrived unexpectedly regarding the Black Ops 6 Ranked Play, with the broadcast stating it would launch earlier than usual. Here is what we know.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Ranked Play to arrive as "part of Season 1"

Anyone familiar with the Call of Duty series knows that Ranked Play is never ready for the game's launch date. Unfortunately, the trend continues with Black Ops 6. However, it's worth pointing out that Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play arrived in late January, two months after the game's release. Black Ops 6 will likely follow suit, depending on the roadmap.

The official Call of Duty account posted on social media, "For those who live for competition—We're excited to announce Multiplayer Ranked Play arrives after launch as part of Season 1." With the game launching worldwide on Oct. 25, Season 1 may not arrive until December or January. Given the phrase "during Season 1," it could be as early as three to four weeks after release.

What will Ranked Play in BO6 entail?

Little is known about Black Ops 6 Ranked Play besides a tentative release window. Like in previous Call of Duty titles, the maps, weapons, and game modes will follow the Call of Duty League structure. Since the game doesn't release until Oct. 25, it will take some time to determine the competitive landscape before Ranked Player is ready for the masses.

At the bare minimum, players can expect Hardpoint and Search and Destroy. All other details are up in the air for the time being.
