The race to to Prestige Master begins on October 25!

Details regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are plentiful at this year's COD Next event, which showcases the latest entry to the popular video game franchise. Ahead of the game's launch, Treyarch and Activision confirmed that the classic Call of Duty Prestige System would return in Black Ops 6, much to the delight of fans. More details about how this system will work in the new game have surfaced, and here's what we learned.

Explaining the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Prestige System

The "Classic" Prestige System has finally returned to the Call of Duty franchise, meaning there are 10 Prestiges total. Each rank reset allows players to unlock in-game cosmetics like Skins, Blueprints, Charms, and more. For example, completing your first Prestige will show you the icon pictured above, drawing inspiration from Call of Duty: World at War.

As the social media post mentions, each Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Prestige pays homage to other games in the Black Ops series. If that isn't enough, you must reach level 1,000 to achieve Prestige Mastery. Those who complete that journey will receive a "secret reward."

Here's a complete list of features included in the upcoming Prestige System:

  • 10 Prestiges
  • Prestige Master Leveling to 1000
  • Unlock unique Skins, Blueprints, Charms, and other rewards only by Prestiging
  • Each Prestige is themed around a game in Black Ops history
  • Each Prestige adds a set of Calling Card challenges for all three modes
  • Maintain Weapon Progression and Global Weapon Builds through relock
  • Permanent unlock token available per Prestige

How are fans reacting to the return of Classic Prestige?

The response to Call of Duty Black Ops 6 bringing back the Classic Prestige System has been overwhelmingly positive. Many long-time COD fans spent hours upon hours progressing through the Prestige to reach the max level and flex that tenth Prestige icon. That feeling will return with the latest installment with even more added incentives.

In addition to the Prestige System, COD Next provided information regarding Ranked Play, an in-depth look at Multiplayer, and a complete list of the 16 maps at launch. Black Ops 6 launches worldwide on October 25, 2024.
