Bronny’s first Summer League success.

The LA Laker's new guard, Bronny James, became an NBA Summer League champion... in Call of Duty. He took home $10k from an annual 2-minute drill contest hosted by the popular FPS game at the off-season basketball competition.

Being the son of four-time NBA champion Lebron James surely comes with expectations of greatness. However, this is probably not how most people envisioned Bronny's first championship in the NBA.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Bronny has some massive shoes to fill as his father's son and teammate. Unfortunately, his performance this NBA off-season has not been convincing even without high expectations. His Summer League stats include a disappointing 0-8 threes record and 3-14 from the field.

Call of Duty, however, proved to be a much easier challenge for the young rookie. Bronny joined Call of Duty's second annual two-minute drill challenge during his off time at the Summer League. With a controller in hand, he managed to secure a win over his fellow NBA competitors in just a few attempts.

Bronny's 84 points were just enough to secure victory over Grant Williams and completely trounce the 56 of last year's victor, Oklahoma City Thunder's Jaylin Williams. His 1st-place finish earned Bronny two massive prizes given how short the competition was.

Photos by Cassy Athena show Bronny wearing a custom Summer League Call of Duty championship belt reminiscent of the WWE. On top of the flashy addition to his wardrobe, the win also earned him ten thousand dollars in cash. Regardless of his performance on the court, Bronny's ecstatic reaction to his victory is totally valid.
