Black Ops 7 Zombies looks like a fantastic return to form.
Treyarch just unveiled the first cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies after postponing the initial reveal that was supposed to occur last week. It seems the wait was worth it, as the trailer looks absolutely stunning and has certainly enticed more fans in the community.
This year in Zombies, Black Ops 7 is blending the new characters that were introduced in BO6 with the old quartet of Takeo, Dempsey, Nikolai, and Richtofen. Together, these eight characters must navigate the new map in BO7, called Ashes of the Damned. A new antagonist for the map was revealed during the cinematic trailer, but it might be a foe we've seen before in Zombies.
You can see the cinematic trailer for BO7 Zombies and some other details below.
New cinematic trailer for Black Ops 7 Zombies
As this trailer is for cinematic purposes only, there's no actual gameplay involved. However, this does appear to be the opening cutscene for the Ashes of the Damned map in BO7 Zombies, so we should see this again come launch time on Nov. 14. You can see detailed images and descriptions for everything in the trailer in Activision's newest blog post.
The trailer begins with all eight of our characters meeting each other for the first time. The new characters from BO6, Weaver, Dr. Grey, Mac, and Maya, are introduced to the original Zombies cast: Takeo, Dempsey, Nikolai, and Richtofen. However, their meeting is short-lived thanks to an interruption from the main antagonist of the new map.
The antagonist isn't named just yet, but his southern accent and overall look appear to match up with that of Jebediah Brown. Brown was last seen in Black Ops 4, but there are references to him in Black Ops 3 and World at War. He's the creator of the Pack-A-Punch Machine and was said to get help from angels to build the contraption.

Many fans are guessing that the BO7 antagonist is Jebediah Brown, and the two skulls that he's carrying in cages are the angels that helped him with the Pack-A-Punch Machine. The skulls absorb the souls of our eight protagonists in the cinematic trailer and seem to curse them in some way.
Beyond that, it's a mystery how Brown ended up in the Dark Aether, which is where the Ashes of the Damned map is set in BO7. It's also not confirmed that the antagonist is Brown, so we'll have to wait and see if his background is revealed with the full map release.

Overall, the cinematic trailer looks incredible, and the small bits and pieces we've seen of the Ashes of the Damned map match up with that. Of course, we'll have to see if the map plays well and how Treyarch is going to change things up from BO6.
We can expect a deeper dive into Black Ops 7 Zombies next week, according to Activision. However, full gameplay will also likely be showcased at the COD Next event, which takes place on Sept. 30.
Until then, make sure to check out the news that Activision might be removing disbanding lobbies and a peek into what BO2 maps Treyarch is remastering for BO7 multiplayer.
