A hugely intense day of ALGS Regional Finals action.

ROC Esports were the eventual winners of a thrilling ten-game long ALGS Regional Finals in the Americas region. They were finally able to close out a victory, navigating a chaotic final circle on E-District. This was the first Regional Finals we have seen with the new Legend Ban system, and both EMEA and Americas produced some of the most entertaining regional Apex we have seen in years.

Team Falcons were also crowned Pro League Champions today, successfully defending their title. Falcons were not quite at their best today and were left sweating on their first place chances. However, on a narrow tiebreak, they did manage to see off a resurgent NIP to head into the Midseason Playoffs in the coveted top seed position.

Team Falcons crowned Pro League Champions

Winning the ALGS Split 1 Pro League is the latest step in what is looking like a really strong ALGS Year 5 for Team Falcons. While their ALGS Regional Finals performance wasn't vintage, that is what can happen in a drawn out Match Point lobby.

After their shaky end to Year 4, it feels like we are really seeing the best of Team Falcons once again. The team have steadily improved their versatility to adapt to Legend Bans. The teams chemistry, and communication, is the best we have seen in some time.

Winning the ALGS Open was a big achievement, but the format of that event means that many won't consider it the same as winning an ALGS Playoff event. However, if Falcons continue their hot streak in Riyadh, we could be seeing a domination on the levels of TSM. After all, this team are no strangers to dominating an entire years competition.

ROC Esports win ALGS Regional Finals in game 10

After EMEA also went the distance, it was a later than usual start for the Americas region. Heading into what would be the final game, 10 teams were past the Match Point threshold. ROC found themselves just sneaking past the magic number of 50 after eight games.

Teams can often reach Match Point and freeze under the pressure. Not ROC, who needed just two attempts. They won in absolute style, racking up a massive 15 kills on their way to the win. That performance is doubly impressive given the length of the tournament and the amount of teams playing especially cautiously.

Their ALGS Regional Finals win, and the boosted 35 points they earned for it, catapulted them up to 6th overall. This lands them some additional prize money but also significantly improves their draft seeding for the Midseason Playoffs.

Final standings

While FURIA and NIP were surprise packages at the top end of the leaderboard, LG, Shopify Rebellion and Sentinels were disappointing today. While Shopify and Sentinels still qualified for the Midseason Playoffs, todays poor showing means LG will be watching that event from home.
