Genburten, speaking to esports.gg during the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs revealed he felt that the North American region had gotten "complacent."

This came after the Group Stage of the ALGS Playoffs, with North American teams underperforming. Of course, Genburten and DarkZero would eventually go on to lift the Split 2 Playoff Trophy.

Complacency in North America?

Genburten pointed to the dominance that North American Apex teams have had at global events. Only TSM, or DarkZero have won major Apex LAN events. A crazy statistic, given the amount of RNG in the Battle Royale genre.

DarkZero technically were an APAC North team for their first and second LAN win. However, there is no denying that North America does have a large dominance. They have the most teams qualified for the ALGS Championship for instance.

During the event there was evidence that North America had "fell off". OpTic, Complexity and FURIA all had to go through the losers bracket. NRG, Split 1 runners up, were incredibly unimpressive at LAN. XSET, FaZe and 100 Thieves all also fell into the Losers Bracket.

APAC North was perhaps the region providing the biggest challenge to North America. The region is full of mechanical talent and teams from Asia bring their own flair. This includes some unique legend compositions that can be hard to counter.

Genburten enjoyed sending Aurora home

Additionally, Genburten also revelled in DarkZero's dominance over European team Aurora. The two sides spent the entirety of LAN, and pre-LAN scrims battling for Harvester.

In a separate interview with esports.gg, Zer0 explained how crucial Harvester is. He felt disrespected by the length of time that Aurora were contesting DarkZero. This feeling was particularly sore because of how handily DarkZero were seeing off Aurora. They felt like they had their practice time wasted.

Clearly, DarkZero still went on to win the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. At the ALGS Championship, Aurora will not be competing which will allow Genburten and DarkZero the freedom of a clear Worlds Edge drop.

Genburtens strong ALGS Playoff performance

Genburten was one of the strongest performers at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. He was the fourth highest kill leader across the whole event. The controller fragger has become one of the most notable Apex personalities. Genburten is never afraid of some smack talk. He was happy to call out Alliance, TSM and more for being carried by individual players at LAN.

Now, with another ALGS LAN title under his belt, Genburten has truly earned his spot amongst the Apex greats.
